disabling option to save original image

if later downt he road i turn off that option and decide to delete all the original_ images in the folders of the gallery, would i be able to do like a maintenance/update thing to remove the linkage to the original image so it doesnt have the link to it from the main image?

1) Turn off the option.

2) Run the maintenance option for cleaning up original images.

duh. shouldve looked @ the maintenance tools a lil bit longer then 4 seconds.
