| Export to photopost
Hi
My group decided they want to go back to photopost as the new upgrade solved most of the wanted issues.
Is there a way to reverse the import operation, I mean import images/posts from VBAG to photopost?
I would really appreciate any help I can get
Thanx
Hani

That's something PhotoPost would have to supply, most likely.

I wouldn't hold my breath witing for them, their support sucks, and the only reason we are going back to them is as we already bought the script, and the vote by our group
I have some open questions there since I ordered the script , no answer for months now.
regards
Hani

Hani,
As CongSoft mentioned what you're looking for is a "PhotoPost vBadvanced Gallery import script" which you would need to see the PhotoPost support group about.
If you've been waiting a few months to get some questions answered, are you sure you really want to switch back?

Yeah, was just about to ask why exactly they want to go back? What specific feature(s) are they looking for that vBa Gallery doesn't have?

good that you asked
first thing, on the fly member gallary, where ever you upload a photo it will be part of your gallary (most wanted feature)
better Comments system
Excluding some catagories (tutorial and test) from being shown in index new images
then, it was a vote, they all like phototalk.net and they want something similar
regards

Better comments in PhotoPost? I think not...
Gallery has on-the-fly member gallery.
Gallery can be set to exclude certain categories on the index images with a simple change to a SQL statement.

And unlike PhotoPost, you can set any category to be a Members' Category. There's also a hack available in the hacks forum here to add a "global" members' category where it will show all images a user has uploaded. Could you elaborate on this one? It's been quite a while since I've really looked at PP, but the last I saw there wasn't anything too special about their commenting system. Quote: |

| There have been instructions posted on here for that a couple of times I believe. That should also be a default option soon.

people people please dont kill me
I do love VBAG but thats what they say
if you can please direct me to these answers so I can work on them tonight, then I'll convince them and will give away our copy of photopost so we can not go back to it at all
Brian knows well that I am in love with vbadvanced products, but the ignorants at my group have their votes that I can not compete with by words, but deeds will sure help
regards
Hani

I know that there have been several people who were existing PP users and then made a decision to continue using PP after evaluating some of the earlier RC versions of vBa Gallery but I think you're the first person who has vBa Gallery up & running and are actually contemplating switching to something else like PP. |

I certainly didn't mean anything negative with my post. I was just making sure that you were aware of what features and hacks were available for vBa Gallery before you made the switch, plus I was curious about the comments thing since (as far as I know) PP doesn't offer anything with their comment system that we don't. If there are some features and/or hacks that you're not sure about just let us know and we'll be sure to point you in the right direction.

sorry guys
my mistake, as I was kidding, but with quick replies I dont have access to smilies
This place is one of the friendliest forums I found on the net, support is great although products are either free or almost free.
I appreciate your efforts and help, and replies, and I myself wounder why would I move back to PP, but as I said, the guys at our forum (which deals with photography) where not happy, and I did not have time to explore more with VBAG.
So tonight I'll work hard on fixing things, and I'll have them vote again, and I am sure I will win thanx to your help.
Sorry again for stubidly prasing my words, I apologise to each and every one of you.
Best regards
hani

I thought I had posted instructions for this before, but I can't seem to find them now. If you'll look in your gallery/index.php file for this code though: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
And replace with this: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
(Replace A, B, C there with the catids)
Then that should do the trick.

I'm not seeing any obvious problems in the code. Try it out and if it doesn't work let us know.

Thanx, That workes fine (but in CMPS not In Gallery Index), can I have it in gallery index too?
Also, since I activated the member gallery, comments dont show under picture in that category but shows on the others
Any idea why?

Sorry, slightly offtopic but I must say the images posted by your members are fabulous. Some sort of photography community ( friends of light ) ?
By the way, I too am stumped at your apparent decision to switch back to Photopost. Can't speak for all, but as of now, I sure in hell wouldn't |
