Throwing a restricted image on my portal

Hey. So I'm running ya CMPS and the gallery and would like to display a random image on the portal, much like the random image thing that already exists.

However I want this image to omit a catergory (porn) from picking its random image, even if users can normally see it when they go to the gallery.

It doesn't sound unfeasible...

I'd really like this, because the random images are nearly all porn now

Have you browsed through the 'random image on CMPS' and 'random image on forum home' threads? In one of them Brian gave example code on how to modify the query to do exactly that.

*sob*

Been through both threads, I can't find something that addresses this. Not to say it's not there... just not there in one place...

Borgs8472, I'm literally heading out the door but as soon as I get home I'll point you in the direction.

BORGS8472, This is the link that KW802 way talking about that showed how to block certain galleries from showing in the ramdom image display.

http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/show...llery+for+cmps

Thanks to KW802 for saying that the thread already existed because I needed the code to.

Re: Throwing a restricted image on my portal

Wilky49, don't forget that you can also set gallery category permissions so that only certain usergroups can see the categories.... and you can also password protect categories (I have some that are flagged as "inactive" so they don't show up in the category listings and then they are password protected so even if somebody finds the category they can't get in it).

Usually the people needing to hard-code the query or those who may have some not-work-safe images and don't want them displaying on the portal page even if the visitor has access to them.

And welcome to vBadvanced.
