disable discriptions on a per category basis

I was wondering if there is a way, or if someone has hacked a way, so that in some categories, say images, we can completely remove the description fields under the thumbnails but we can keep them working in other categories. Problem is that on photo based pages, it's looking cluttered. I personally don't need descriptions and dimensions and what not on photos, not for what I'm doing. Now for another category that I've dedicated to mpg and avi files (and another for SWF), having things like descriptions is a good thing.

I just haven't found a way, nor is it currently possible I think, to disable/enable on a category by category basis.

Yep, that would require hacking. No built in way to do that.
