Possible to hide empty custom fields with <if>'s?

Can empty custom fields be hidden by modifying the conditional code? My custom fields will be blank on a majority of images but important on some. The current conditional for custom fields is:

Content visible to verified customers only.

Look in your showimage.php file for this code:

Code:

Content visible to verified customers only.

Replace with:

Code:

Content visible to verified customers only.

And that should do the trick.
