| Video Thumbnails
Is there a way I can upload/assign a thumbnail image (other than the system default thumbnail) to a video that I have uploaded?
I've seen it discussed some, but I don't think it's a feature (yet), or I just can't find it. |

There is not default feature yet and I don't recall seeing a hack for it yet either. I know Brian has been bugged for it a few times, though.

Right now the only way would be to manually edit the image through the database, add the thumbnail name, and upload it to the proper folder. We should be able to create thumbnails for video files in a future version, but in order to do it *right* it's going to take some work, so I can't say when it will be added.

I did mean "create". I'll look into the ability to upload a thumbnail for video files as well though. | |

I just purchased the vBa Gallery. Excellent app!
I am hoping the video hosting secion on my site will take off, so the auto-thumnail feature is very appealing to me.
A friendly request to move forward with this feature for the next release. |

| Re: Video Thumbnails
There is a Gallery photo gallery hack/add-on that automagically extracts a given video frame and generates the corresponding thumbnail. I dunno how much work it'd be to incorporate that into vB adv gallery ??
Uses this library: http://ffmpeg-php.sourceforge.net/
Description: ffmpeg-php is an extension for PHP that adds an easy to use, object-oriented API for accessing and retrieving information from video and audio files. It has methods for returning frames from movie files as images that can be manipulated using PHP's image functions. This works well for automatically creating thumbnail images from movies. ffmpeg-php is also useful for reporting the duration and bitrate of audio files (mp3, wma...). ffmpeg-php can access many of the video formats supported by ffmpeg (mov, avi, mpg, wmv...)
