This is new in RC3?
When set to 2, it totally hoses all my pages. Displays all the sub catagories in with the catagories - very messy.
Simple, set to 1 and it works when viewing subcats.
Except, now there's nothing on the home page,,,my gallery home page has a number of Catagories which aren't pic catagories, they just have subcats in them.
ie, "Act as Category" on these top level catagories is set to 'no'
How can I make it behave like it did before?

There's a separate option to tell it not to display the sub-categories with the categories. Try turning that one off and see if that's what you're looking for.

Show Sub-Categories
This option will allow you to display links to a category's sub-categories in the category listings. Yes No

That's just a list of links in the postbit, which is actually kind of cool.
That's not what I'm looking for. http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...mages.php?c=27

You'll probably need to log in to the main forum as I haven't fixed the gallery login bug yet http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/forum/index.php?
See how the subcats are displayed almost exactly the same as normal cats?
It didn't used to be that way (RC2) and it looks like garbage.

The "gallery login bug" should be fixed with RC3 I think, since it should prefix all filenames with the correct path (if you define those files in the Gallery admincp)
Edit: Or maybe not, since that login form isn't in the header, footer, or navbar.
If you edit the login templates, and put the full path to all references to .PHP files (including the Form ACTION), that should take care of it.

I don't think that's going to solve his problems. I think he's describing the same thing I'm seeing with RC3.
For a visual, try this....
Start here: http://www.coolscifi.com/gallery/
OK, that looks good. Now click on the "Battlestar Galactica" category here: http://www.coolscifi.com/gallery/browseimages.php?c=60
OK, that stil looks good. But now click on the "Sci-Fi & Fantasy" parent category here: http://www.coolscifi.com/gallery/browseimages.php?c=14
Scroll down a bit.... oooohhh, that doesn't look good at all.
I haven't had a chance to tear it apart yet to see if it's really a problem or not. I looks like it's sorting it by the Display Order value only and isn't taking into account that some of the entries 2 levels deep should be grouped together by the category at 1 level deep.

I don't think it should display that child catagory at all. If there was an expand collapse on the parent maybe it would be OK.
I can force it by setting the depth to 1, but then it barfs up the gallery home page and you don't get to see any catagories.
RC2 did not behave this way.
Go into Member's Rides.
Then look at the catagory 'Thor's Mounty'
All the child categories for Thor's Mounty are displayed in Members Rides (Action, Posing, Restoration and Mods). They should NOT be. They should only show up when I go into the category 'Thor's Mounty'
It does this for all the categories. Makes it a real mess with mine where I've got a half dozen of my own personal categories.
May not be able to call it a bug, but it's undesireable behavior that's for sure.

Of course it's always possible that I'm forgetting about something that I've changed, but I don't *think* the categories should behave any differently than they did in RC2, except for the fact that you can change the depth now.
If you were able to set a different depth on the index page and the browseimages page would that solve the problem? If so, you could look in your browseimages.php file for this: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
And add this right below it: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
And of course just change 1 there to whatever you want to use on the browseimages page, then your index page will go by the setting in your admincp.

I just upgraded to RC4 and this prob is back, but the place to apply the hack is no longer there.
Is this an admin setting now? If so, where do I find it?
BTW, seems like RC4 is a lot faster. Is that my imagination? or is my server just 'happy' today?

Yes. 'Depth of Categories' and 'Depth of Categories on Index'. Quote: |

| It's not your imagination. If you have a lot of categories then there is a good chance that you will see a noticable difference. On one larger site the execution time for the categories was brought down from around 17 seconds to about 0.2. | |
