Question Noobie question re image size....

Hi Brian

Here's a stupid question if you have no idea about images like I do....!!!

If I select an image to upload to my gallery that is say 1MB in size or larger, (1) will the image take up that much space on my server after I have uploaded it and (2) how come when I then view that image I see it as a dramatically reduced file size (which is good)...?

Sorry if this is a dull question.

Re: Noobie question re image size....

themusicman, it will take up that much space if you select to save the original. It will then build a smaller version of the image using either GD or imagemagick. However if you select not to keep the original it will discard the larger 1mb image that was uploaded.
