Login is through username and password. You can enable captcha for registration or posting of ads and comments etc however if the user who registers is a live person spammer that can answer captcha security there is nothing you can do to prevent spam.
People who are not logged in can not bid on an auction. Only people who have successly registered as members on your site can bid.
