A long-standing issue I've had is needing a REASON for moderating a photo, either a move or a delete. Our mods have to remove a photo and then separately send a PM to the user explaining why it violated our policy. It would be nice to have a reason field (ideally a reason code and reason text) for why we are moderating a photo right in the move or delete action dialog that would be included in a notification.
Joomla integration. My vB forum site is going to be sitting on a Joomla site soon.
Not sure of the plan, but using the comments to list votes only has always been ugly. We don't really need see who voted for a photo. I would prefer to see a link or something of "who voted" that would maybe popup a simple list if someone really wants that info.
Sounds like the profile thing is changing, but I am also in the camp of not wanting PP profiles at all on a vB forum.
On the vB integration where we have random photos on the forumhome, I would like the ability to have a nice rating option (just the stars) right under the photos (ajax). I would like that capability on all of the photo widget displays. I would like stars for ratings and some simple social share icons (FB, twitter) right below the ratings and that's it.
For vB forums, the FB integration needs to take into account the fact that we're likely already doing FB integration (at least probably most of us) on the forum side.

A couple of things like photopost profile and photo blocks in vb has been added. I beleive the facebook social stuff would check for the facebook cookie when posting at least I know when I test the share thing it knows I am logged in facebook and if not it brings up the facebook login.

Please also address the slideshow. Here's an email I just received about it. Quote: |
. When I went in to view the pictures of the ribbon work, I got very frustrated. You slide show is not user friendly. It keeps going to the top of the page for each picture and the picture is in the middle of the page and 10 seconds is not enough time to line it up and view it. Yes, I am very well aware of the pause button. What if I don't want to pause for each picture to line it up and view it. It's very frustrating that you have to pause each time to view the large picture. Not to mention if the bottom half of the page is not showing, the majority of people are not going to scroll down to see the whole page. I found the bigger pictures by accident. I guess i tend to be one of those people that won't scroll down. I'm used to clicking on the thumbnail and a bigger picture automatically coming up where I can see it. No sho w up at the bottom of the page. Just thought you should know. Because I'm not coming back unless you fix it.

Take note you setup whether or not to show headers on sideshow or just a sideshow so no scrolling should be needed not showing a site header. The user elects the length of show based in the options given him.

Gotta keep the ad revenue!

Yes good suggestion but make sure to place it in the suggestions forum. I do not believe we will be adding anything else big into pp8

Chuck, I would think you could jack some of the vb.css integration and round some edges and get a bit more web2.0ish look (much like your forum).
Anyway to get on a mailing list when the beta opens--I don't check here every day, but I'd like to start testing as soon as its open.

If it's not too late, id like to see you guys add support for memcache/memcached. or an alternative, apc? I've enabled it for vbulletin, and have been testing to make sure it doesnt break photopost--but it would be nice to have it enabled, given the amount of cpu photopost is capable of consuming.

I do not think I follow the one vb4 integrated site I showed very much uses any vb4 style and is more like vbgallery style usage as thats the mapping I used for the new Pro.

it looks nice, i just think it could be improved.

yeah well the new look does use rounded corners and the likes.
The big difference is the vb4 style your trying to compare to is heavily aided by graphics where as our new style is rounded corners without graphics and the like which is the difference you see. Take away the graphics in the vb style and there would not be much difference.
If you have specific suggestions feel free to let me know. Like maybe something I have thought of more of a shading on the left and bottom to pop out the boxes a little. I literly just started doing some different styles a few days ago just because I know not all customers are going to want to use in a non forum style integration the only theme that was included in pp8 that dark one Michael did for his harleyalley site.
We are just going to be opening a beta shortly so plenty of time for customer input on what style elements they want to see.

I noticed on the examples you posted, it had some social networking integration. Is pp8 going to have things like Facebook or Twitter login (this is for standalone... no integration)?

Hi Chuck, I was just looking at your link to A community photo gallery - My Photo Gallery
What are the stars for? Obviously I wasn't logged in, but I was allowed to give stars to the photos. So this would mean anyone not logged in can give photos 1 star just for the heck of it?

ok, looking around some more
What about the exif data? what happened to that option.
I'm logged in over on your Reeftalk site and on this link I see no option. Assuming that can be turned on by us as admins for our site like we do now? Clarkii Clown (Amphiprion clarkii) - - ReefTalk Gallery
Also while logged into RT, there is no photo option pull down menu while viewing a photo.
We use that all the time. Members use it to click to view exif and also to reupload a photo with changes from suggestions made during the week. I also use it to add ribbons each week for the winners, which at least on the page I'm looking there is no room for?
We have POTW, POTM, POTQ, Best of Category, and POTY ribbons as you can see this person has so far this year for his latest POTQ win.
I can't do without those options Liberty 1818 - BytePhoto Galleries |
