Suggestions: What's the best way of making this Efficiant? I am needing to make the following categories but want to try and make it as efficiant as possible (trying to avoid repeating the same folder names for tons of categories). The basic idea is this will be a Camaro Photo distinguishing guide which needs to be broken down into categories and years. For example: [3rd Generation (1982 - 1992)] 1982 1983 1984 1985 1986 1987 1988 1989 1990 1991 1992 Each are broken down to the photo angles. [EXTERIOR] Front Rear Driver Side Wheel Headlight Taillight Engine Front Corner 3/4 Rear Corner 3/4 [INTERIOR] Steering Wheel Inside Driver Door Panel Trunk Front Driver Seat Rear Seats Center Console Radio Front Dash Instrument Panel Which are broken down to Base Models. There are a total of 37 years to do. Now I OBVIOUSLY want to make this as efficient as possible but what would be the best way? If I break it down into the photo views as the main parent, then that means I have to repeat 37 years for each parent.. That is just a waste of time.. Any possible tips on doing this? And is there a way to COPY entire parents and their subcategory's to a new one rather than resetting up 37 ? :-( |
You would break down the categories whatever way works best for you. I really am not a car guy so I dont follow exactly all your trying to do but talking of categories and subcategories they are explicit. Meaning if you want to separate pictures by years then yes you would need 37 different categories. Now how you display and split those up further is up to you. |
I see.. now may I ask if there is a way to COPY parents (including their childrens) to new ones? In the admin panel I see a way to MOVE them, but not a way to COPY (duplicate) them and just change the parent name. Perhaps a way to copy via phpmyadmin? and just changing the category name or something? |
No sorry there is no way to do it via the admin panel or phpmyadmin. to create categories you need to explicitly do it with the script as it creates directories on your server as well and creating a category is one at a time. Its just like creating a forum there is no mass way to do it. |
Kevin I guess thats a matter of various tastes and how someone wants to run his site. I think in his purpose it is how he wants to categorize the various years and models of cars. |
