Problems with Uploads and Categories Dear Support Person, I hope it's OK that I create this topic here, cuz I cannot create it in the support forum. I put in my license number in the profile, but it won't let me use the support forum. Weird. Anyways, one of you guys (Chuck, I think), installed the gallery on my forum today. (Thank you, btw.) However, I have a few problems. First of all, with the uploads. I need to upload A LOT of images at the same time, so I use my FTP. Basically, the photos would be added to the appropriate album, but the gallery will stop once the number of uploaded photos reaches 30. It's weird cuz there are 84 photos in the folder specified. I tried uploading the rest of the photos, but am taken to a blank page again and again. Nothing seems to work. I'm out of ideas. Another problems lies with creating categories. I tried creating another top category, but for some reason it keeps filing itself under the older top category, despite the fact that I have specified "none" under parent category. I'm very confused. I really really really need to get this sorted today. Please reply as soon as possible. Thank you, Rachel |
http://www.tokiohotel.co.uk/gallery/index.php I created a top level category and it appears as it should As far as bulkuploading any errors? I dont see any photos nor do I see any in your uploads directory so not much I can comment on |
Chuck, any chance "Photoshoots" can appear as "Appearances at Award Shows, Events and Public Outings", not under "Appearances at Award Shows, Events and Public Outings"? :( It looks weird and it\'s not supposed to be part of "Appearances", as you can imagine. "Appearances" is supposed to contain categories with different events; and "Photoshoots", similarly, is supposed to contain categories with different photoshoot sessions. I just tried uploading those 84 photos from this directory: /home/tokiohot/data/www/www.tokiohotel.co.uk/gallery/uploads/2. Same results. You can see them in the gallery now. The pics that were randomly uploaded were deleted from the directory. :( :( :( |
P.S. After the gallery uploads randomly 30 out of 84 photos, it won\'t upload any photos at all. Regardless of upload directory, destination category, number of photos... *sigh* *prays for a reply* |
Your PHP on the server is timing out processing that many files. I made a change that should help that |
Yay! Everything works now. :D Thank you so much!!! *hug* One more thing. I was wondering, if I make it so that recent photos are displayed on the main index page of my forum, will that make the server crash? I get about 3000 visitors daily, so... just wondering. If not, how do I do that? LOL. |
You should be able to do that no problem its only one more query on the page |
I dunno how to do that though... can you break it down for me? Sorry to be difficult. :( |
And another little issue that came to mind... Since my gallery is dedicated to a pop band, there will be a lot of album-categories... is there a way to limit how many show up on the main gallery page? |
|
well how many photos and how big ;) |
About 30 photos and they are all under 1MB... You know, the "usual". :P |
well I would suspect blank page is another PHP memory timeout. Does it work with just 10 or 15 images? |
Nope, not even with 10. :( |
The problem was sorted. Turns out it was due to too many visitors at the time of uploading... Another question, though: Is it possible to make secondary categories to display a thumbnail to indicate its content? Like, a thumbnail of the last uploaded photo or something. Do you know what I mean? |
You can tag when viewing a photo in a category the MAKE ALBUM COVER link when logged into admin to tag it as the album cover |
Cool! All works now. :D Another thing... (sorry, it never seems to end) - I recently changed my avatar on the forum... but for some reason the gallery displays my old avatar. Even after I uploaded more photos after having changed it. Is there a way to make the gallery "refresh" my avatar? |
[nevermind] |
