Personalised albums url

Is there a way to provide the members with a friendly album url like :
site.com/photopost/username ?

We have a spider url that works like so

domain.com/photopost/showgallery.php/cat/500/ppuser/145

so it does not work like been above

Frequently usernames have spaces or other characters that do not translate into URL; so that kind of feature requires a way of mapping usernames to possible URL values.
