Notice how there are so many of the same image? (Repeated images) Surely it's not supposed to be that way. On other sites, there are different images in those spaces.

How to correct?

Looks to me like people are uploading the same picture multiple times.

Thanks for your response! I knew this wasn't normal!
However, there are no multiple pics anywhere else on the site -- which is why I think that this is a software (?) problem. There doesn't appear to be any multiple pics -- AND this multiple showing of pics only occurs when you click on an image for an upclose look. Elsewhere there are no multiple images. Does that make sense?

Is this caused by a user uploading and deleting and then uploading again? Or is it just baffling? It's pretty annoying to me -- esp. when I don't see it on other galleries. But I have no clue about what causes it or how to fix.

Notice how the larger image is only repeated by the center thumbnail? I'd like my gallery to be like that.

Okay lets try this

You using upload to optional categories set to yes in Admin => Upload Options

This would explain why you see that. See how the same image exists in all 3 categories. If you do not want your users to upload the same image to multiple categories set this option to no in admin
