editing categories

I am trying to set up my categories on a new installation. It doesnt look like I can delete the category entitled "member galleries". It also doesnt look like I can add subcategories to this category.

Am I missing something?

Correct Members Galleries is a placeholder category. It can not be deleted or subcats added to it.

You may create all the parent and subcats you want aside from this category.

Thanks for the answer. Is it possible to keep the members category from displaying? It does not really fit in with our category list and will be confusing to users.

Turn it off in Index Options and also in Edit Categories mark in not viewable or uploadable by any group.
