mtha,

Personally I usually hide my status because I do 'hit & run' sessions throughout the course of the day... maybe pop in for a few minutes, answer anything I can, and then later that evening go back to the more complicated items. My personal experience in the past has been that some customers/visitors (of the various sites that I'm associated with) got upset if they saw that I was online but didn't answer their item right then & now when actually I may have only been online for a minute or so but I'm still showing as active until the session timeouts.

I brought up the matter, somewhat because PP used to have some bad customer service reputation before.

I cannot tell you what you need to do, but I felt alittle bit "cold and lonely" when I know that you support staff are around, but not seeing anyone. Just thought that it wouldnt harm making customer see some more productive staff working, right. It might also help improving your customer service image (that I really hope that you wont ever have to run into bad comments again)

Kenvin sure it's up to you to set it on or off though, I do the same for my community though. when my schedule is too tight, I hide the online status, and turn it back on when I can support.

Anyway, I'm happy to see more people (like you) joining support staff, (so we customer can get the best out of you guys )

hehe, just come up with an idea, why dont have something like second logout, so it will only clear your online status (session in database), and keep cookie, so you are logged out at the session, but not need to login next time you come back

Everyone is invisible at our site unless they want to be visible.
Artists are a fickle bunch. Key contributors don't want to be hassled by newbies when they're online, others don't like the Big Brother someones watching my every move approach ...
Gregarious ones would like to know what everyone is up to.
It was easier to make em all invisible and give them the choice
Admin sees all hehe
