why new catid >500?

dont know if the question is asked before, but i was wondering about this.

When i try to create new category, the catid is 501+, is there any reason for that, or if I should create some other categories with catid <500?

(didnt look at the code for the answer)

The catid field is an auto increment mysql field so the next one is taken
