Curious about Data folders

Is a new folder created each time photos are uploaded or does a folder correspond to a category or subcategory?
I've looked in a couple of folders and see photos that I know fall into different categories when I view them through PhotoPost. I also have several folders with no photos in them.
I had hoped to copy my data directory to my PC and rename the folders to have a off-line photo cabinet to work with but that does not appear to be as simple as I had hoped.
Also, is there anyway within photopost to see what folder a particular photo is stored in?

You can always view the path properties on a photo provided you dont have right click disable on

Now the numeric id's under the data folder correspond to the numeric id of the categories in photopost so members gallery is 500 etc etc
