| What are Albums vs. Member Galleries?
Can someone explain what the difference is between Albums and Member Galleries? I guess I'm more wondering what Albums are used for but it appears they're related to Member Galleries.
I'm just confused on what Albums are for and how to use them. What purpose do they serve in life?

Albums are created and managed by users.
Member Galleries is a category which can either be configured to show all of a user photos or just those they upload to the "default" gallery.
As a user I might want to group specific images together into an "album", so I would create one.

Yes, think of Members Galleries as a "Home Page" for a user.

Albums can also be assigned to cats if you allow it

I noticed that. And what benefit does that provide? And a suggestion: in the uploadphoto script there is a dropdown list where you can select the category to upload to. It would be easier for users if that dropdown list only showed the cats they have upload permissions to. For instance, I don't allow my users to upload to any of my cats right now (all 400+) but I allow them to upload to their Member Gallery and Albums. If they want to upload to one of their Albums, they have to scroll through the entire list of cats and is very confusing for them.

It allows people to get additional exposure for the albums when they realted to categories contained in the index.

So it doesn't create a separate category just for their album, it "attaches" an album to an existing category?

The drop down box on the upload page should only show catagories/albums that the user has the right to post to. I too don't allow users to post outside of their own member gallery or albums.

Hmmm... I might have jumped the gun on this. When I logged on as my test user, it did only show categories that the user could post in. So my apologies if in fact it does already work the way I suggested.
