Spiderman.

Ok, well not really...

But I do have a spider question.

I noticed that many of my photopost pages are being spidered. Also, if I hover my mouse over a photopost picture such as this one: http://www.njflyfishing.com/vbportal...sort=1&cat=507

that is the link I get. I don't think that is a spider friendly url. Now if I right click and go to properties on the same photo, I get this:

http://www.njflyfishing.com/vbportal...Zone_2_004.jpg

Which I believe is a spider friendly URL. Either way, they point to the same exact image.

Now, if I goto Admin (User Options), 'Display spider friendly URLS' is turned off. If I turn it on, non of the links work, and htey all point to something like http://www.njflyfishing.com/vbportal...Zone_2_004.jpg

Also, I can't upload when they're set to 'ON'.

So how come when I right click, everything looks spider friendly?

The reason I'm asking is because if Photopost is spidering URLS like the first one I showed you, I'd like to know how is photopost doing this? I've been trying to get VBulletin to spider with no success. Forcetype is set to OFF on Powweb.com so that is not an option.

If someone can help me out, that would be great.

Thanks for your time.

Okay your server will not allow you to use the spider friendly url's. They can not explode the path correctly.

Now your site will get spidered regardless of spider friendly url's or not. Spider Friendly urls attract more attention and get tons more links spidered quicker than a normal link

Spider's visit everyones site. Depending on the friendliness of the url will depend on the extent of indexing.

It is a good thing.

If you want some good tutorials on how they work just do a net search on spiders and bots

While I do appreciate your feedback, you wouldn't happen to have an answer to any of the questions I've asked, would you?
