A Few Suggestions This first suggestion is extremely simple. I just downloaded the 5.2 package and unzipped it. I now have 44 files/folders on my desktop. I am glad I keep my desktop clear because for some that could be messy. Could you simply toss everything in a "Photopost Classifieds 5.2" folder? This will keep the folders and files organized for those who have unorganized desktops. The second suggestion I have pertains to the feedback system. Could there be a couple extra fields? I am specifically looking to have a field that allows feedback to be left for the seller or buyer. It would also be beneficial if there were a URL field that the user had to fill out. This would have to be a link to their ad page. The field should check and see if that url exists (which it must when the feedback is left) and should link to a default "ad expired page" after the ad was either deleted or falls off. It should also ensure that no other feedback is using the same url. this will help prevent people from helping to raise a friends feedback. It should be an option if we want to allow people to change their feedback. I am personally removing that ability from my site immediately because someone could get in a spat with someone they purchased from and then change their info even if it was a good transaction. Follow-up comments, like with ebays system would be great to replace people changing their opinion. |
We can look at suggestion 2. As far as suggestion 1 there is nothing I could do about that. That is merely how the download works. When you open the zip you see there is no directory so the proper action would be to place the unzipped files in there own directory this is what I have always done since I first because a customer 9 years ago. The way the members download script works is I upload a source file which has a directory say called pp-classifieds52 in there with everything. There is a script on our site which goes through and encodes your license number through all the files and it is that script which compiles the final download and that always processes the code into what you see. I will pass along your comment though on the download. If we did not have to worry about encoding license numbers into the files I would easily do something like that. |
I am looking at the feedback system and specifically from what I see your comments are a little confusing. You say you want people to edit there feedback and then next say you remove that ability which is confusing to me. In our application you can not edit feedback after it is left. The admin can delete feedback etc if he is moderating things but that is the size of it. I do not beleive users should ever be allowed to change feedback just like the seller can not delete someone's feedback. I will look at ebay to see what we can do as I would need to try and visualize things. One thing I know I will be doing is separating moderation into ad,comment and feedback moderation permissions. Just looking at expanding things and need some clarification on your ideas. |
