Yeah the only problem with flash upload for classifieds would be the way things are handled is it theoretically possible. See in the gallery which has a flash uploader each and every image you upload is a photo in the gallery and processed as such.
I do not see how the flash uploader would work in classifieds just because image uploading is secondary in those applications. You can have up to 9 images for each ad. If you allow mass upload the 6 million dollar question would be to how to dissallow any image uploads after the 9 max for that ad is reached so one can continue on with the ad submission.

It would be nice in showfull.php to have the possibility to flip forward / backwards through the photos of one item

Just a few more suggestions:
- An easier way to remove/add currencies. Going into the database tables and manipulate data is not for everyone.
- Be able to set your local currency and an automatic field that shows a conversion of a price in a foreign currency.
- It is currently showing Views and Condition on the ads list page. It would be helpful if we could choose the field(s) to show for each category. Condition is a pretty useless and generic field for all of our ads. For example, it would be nice to show a Year and Mileage field for car ads.

If ad comments were allowed/disallowed as a user option (per ad), it would be an improvement for our site. Some of our members like the comments & some do not.

There should be an option to link feedback to an item that was sold/purchased through the classifieds, together with the title of the item and price and if he/she were the buyer or seller. Similar to what eBay uses.
Right now, anyone can leave feedback for everyone.

Users should be able to bump their ad.
Bring their ad back on top of every other ads.

Plus one for adding the Mobile functionality to Classifieds, just like what was done with PhotoPost Pro. I really hope you'll build that in!

Yeah bumping makes no sense in a classifieds application where content is very temporary.

Much better integration with vBulletin (and other forum software) would be very nice. I am thinking of using the vB user profiles instead of the separate PP Classifieds profile and make it more integrated. The separate PPC user settings is just awkward and inconvenient.
I guess my point is to have Classifieds software that works really nice with vB. Something that people want to buy because of its features and integration, not because it is the only software product that works ok with vB and people buy/use it because there is no other Classifieds software available.

One idea that has been thrown around is to have the "option" to have a new classified listing start it's own thread in the forum, then have the comments attached to that. It brings attention to the ad, and allows discussion about the listing, if needed.
It's not a bad idea, I'm sure it has upsides and downsides.
I'm not real sure if I have a solid grasp on the "Best Offer" feature of the present version, but I did get a lot of complaints about it not working the way people expected it to. I think they mentioned that the listing should have a set price, then a "Make an Offer" type of button where they can privately submit a "Best Offer" to the seller. Then the seller accepts or declines.
The ability for the administrator to set static category thumbnails, and if nothing is set, it can draw from current listings as it does now.
We could definitely use some tweaked permissions "options" for the admin to set for moderators. I don't want to have 100% of the workload in the classifieds, and there are things that the moderators can't do that I would like to have them do.
I also believe that if the user/guest doesn't have the ability to view the classifieds, they should be met with an error message instead of a page with no content on it.
I'm still wading through comments from members and staff from my beta testing, so I'm sure I'll be back with more suggestions/requests.
I know you can't always do everything that is asked for, but I have been looking for a full featured classifieds system for a few of my sites, and I would really like to stick with this.

My top list would be:
1. Automatic deletion of sold/expired ads
2. A way to turn off Auctions in AdminCP that removes wording from the uploadproduct pages
3. Combining of uploadproduct, showproduct & editproduct as well as ad type into one template page so that we didn't have to edit 12 pages. OR, see number 7 below.
4. The ability to put the complete Category listing on a left or right column on all pages in the AdminCP.
5. Integration with VB that included classified ad links in the VB Postbit and user Profile page. Ability to choose to use the VB Profile page in Classifieds instead of using the Classifieds Profile page.
6. Feedback system that was always available and viewable for all members -- not just when a member has a sale in progress.
7. AdminCP configurable Ad Pages -- line by line options to include or remove most options on the upload product pages (and this be automatically reflected in the Edit and show product pages. as well).
8. A standard "For Trade" ad type available as one of the ad types.
9 A MOBILE APP AVAILABLE or at least a MOBILE STYLE -- ASAP PLEASE!!!

We use classifieds, contest ability for holding monthly contests. It would be a huge time saver and one less thing to have to remember to do, if we could set a start and end dates for this.
Also would like to get a Trade template built in.

classifieds has no contest ability so not sure what your referring to. A user posts an ad or auction in content picks a duration and then after it is up the content is removed.

Sorry I was thinking PhotoPost...
However, Would be nice to have individual stores for Classifieds. For example I have 2 forums on my site. Both are support forums for 2 different products. Would be nice to be able to make 2 stores so that you can not see the other from within the other.

well our licensing is one install on one install on one domain so if your trying to run different separate classifieds that would be multiples installs hense multiple licenses.
I am almost ready to release a beta for classifieds putting some final touches on a first round of a mobile theme I am writing for it.

Does the new version have custom searchable fields? I didn't see it in the change logs so probably not. Quote:

For a car site like ours, it is important to select some standard items. There are the regular text fields but we need standard choices like - Color (blue, black, white, silver and so on)
- Body style (sedan, wagon, hatchback, convertible)
- Seller type (private party / dealer)
Other fields are numeric like model year and mileage. It is important to be able to search for a car with say less than 60,000 miles. Or a model year between 2000 and 2005. A good example is a site like Search Cars Online - Find Cars with Advanced Search - Cars.com
This will be helpful for all automotive and motorcycle sites but I imagine it can be beneficial for any other type of site. | |
