Minimum posts

We get some lurkers that want to come on and use our Classifieds even though they don't participate in the forum. It would be nice if there was a setting to "prevent users with <x posts from posting an ad". Or is there?

There is no such feature but depending on the forum could be an option.

I would like to have this as well. Perhaps in combination with a minimum time they have to be a member on the forum (i.e. 1 month) before they can place an ad.

Most forums have additional usergroups and you can already set permissions of what groups can post etc based on the usergroup when integrated with a forum so there is no extra coding needed on our side of things here. Simple create a posting based usergroup in your forum that elevates a user into an additional usergroup if there post count goes above a certain count. I think vbulletin and invisionboard have this feature. I can not speak about all forums but was looking for classifieds ideas and figured I would expand upon what I said above so everyone would know what I was talking about. We no direct control over what features your forum has or there usergroup management. When integrated with a forum then user management happens there. That is kind of out of our hands. All we can do is obviously set permissions based on what usergroups the user belongs to in the forum so it is easy to achieve what you want to do if your forum has posting level promotions in it.

Count me in on desiring this feature as well. Yes, we could create a new usergroup and promotion to handling it, but this would be great built into Classifieds for integration in VB.

I guess you did not read my reply the issue here is grabbing post counts from 25 different integrations if this was merely a standalone app not integrated with anything we could code anything we wish.

If your using the application with vb which of course has an entire posting level advancement feature then simply as noted in my reply set your classifieds usergroup permissions according to what you want.

I can only think of like 2 maybe 3 products we integrate with that have such a feature.

Actually, I did read it. In fact, I commented on it. I still think it was be a great addition to the product for VB Integration.

If you are using a vb integration you would do what I said.

Like I said I can easily do something with a standalone classifieds but for forum integrations it is a different story user management is a forum thing. We have no control how your forum posting priviledges are handled.

In our product you can only get usergroup permissions based on what usergroup the forum user is in. How he gets in a group depends totally on your forum features which is why I said if your using vb you would use the vb features for such things.
