paypal button

Can we add this feature.

User enters there paypal information email@whatever.com when listing a product. then with the product page there is a "Buy Now" paypal button that displays for buyers.

Well you can use an extra field on edit categories to record the user's paypal email. You can strip it from display by editing the template if you dont want the email shown but then you would simply add a table row with the paypal form to add a buy button and use the following variables for price, paypal email and title

$ptitle $askprice and $extra1?

Added a buy it now link on regular ads in the latest beta. Users can elect to allow on upload if they want users to buy it now or not and are told there email must match there paypal email. Users then will be allowed to buy the ad via paypal and the ad will be marked sold. Both seller and buyer recieve emails with contact info.

can we download the latest beta with this feature or must we wait ?

thx and good job :)

ok i download it, it works

i will customise the template to remplace the link by a button

good work

(it would be wonderful if people can choose their paypal adress instead of attribute their profile adress) :D

Are you referring to the "Buy It Now" link next to "Sold it?" link. This link only shows up when I'm in the user admin area. But if I'm in the fronted, I don't see any of that info. Did I configure it wrong? Also when I do try to change the Paypal option to Yes, it goes back to no.

Chuck S January 25th, 2006 08:13 AM

No the buy it link only appears if the user has elected to allow people to buy their ad directly since their email must match their paypal email.

Try uploading a new ad and then login in as a regular user to see the link. ;)

I'm having this problem, too.

Hmmm...

paypal is a usergroup setting you are setting the usergroup switch right?

I think so. It is the column "Allow Payment?", correct? See attached.

The user that creates the ad and me, the Admin, are the only people that see the Buy Now link. Otherwise, no link.

As a regular user, I can create an ad and select Yes to the PayPal option. Save it. But it doesn't display. When I Edit, the option is set back to No. Although the database shows as "yes".

Buy Now is not controlled by the payment switch.

You will only see a buy now link on new ads where a user uploads an ad and selects to allow a person to buy the ad.

Then what does this mean?

It means exactly what I said in your quote where you quoted me.

Buy Now is a link where if a seller has elected to allow people to buy there ad instantly it will appear when viewing the ad.

Payment system concerns you getting your money for posting an ad on your site and this part happens when the seller places an ad on your site. The buy link has nothing to do with you getting anymore money. It is a way for the seller to get his money.

I hope that clarifies this issue.

Ok, I understand the Payment System now. However, that does not fix the problem.

1. I login as a regular user. Create an ad with "Yes" for PayPal option.
2. "Buy IT Now" link appears for me and me only (and Admin).
3. All other regular users cannot see "Buy It Now" link.
4. When trying to edit ad (as user) the PayPal option is switched back to No. When re-saving with Yes, the option returns to No when editing again.

See attached for what users are seeing.

Top is logged in as betatest, the ad owner. It looks good.
Middle is logged in as betatest2, no link.
Bottom is logged in as Admin, link is there.

Please advise.

Hello Chuck. The above code worked... it added the Buy It Now link to the ad.

However, I see a new problem, which I'd like for someone else to try on their system

When logged in as a regular user and I click Buy It Now from someone else's ad, I see a page with a button to send me to PayPal. So far so good.

When I get to PayPal's website I noticed that the "Pay To" field is incorrect. It's listing my own e-mail address in there, instead of the seller's.

See attachment for example. bamaster@yahoo.com is my e-mail address.

Please advise.
