Classifieds 2.5 Beta 1 Released.

Okay we have released PhotoPost Classifieds 2.5 beta1

I wanted to collect what everyone's top ideas would be for the next rendition. Please realize although that not every idea will be implemented. I will take into consideration as much new features as possible here so start throwing them out so I can prioritize features and see what we can come up with.

Here is what I have been done thus far from reading over the suggestions forum and trying to see what was brought up many times

Added currency selector on uploadproduct for user to specify currency overriding site global currency. The currency shows correctly on showproduct and showcat. Example shown here. This seems to be a suggestion I have seen a few times here (see example site)
added in category moderators
added cache table to come into line with the rest of our products
added thumbnail templates feature
header footer headtags and language file editor in admin
added new enhanced admin layout on options to make it easier to manage
added php info and htaccess editor to admin
added calendar pal
added 3 more images to ad display from the current 3 for a total of 6
MOVED PAYMENT TO A PER USERGROUP SETTING INSTEAD OF GLOBAL SETTING (THIS SEEMS TO BE THE NUMBER ONE REQUEST I SEE )
Added in Category Intro feature which allows you to enter introduction of category specific rules etc.(contents set in category editor) (see example site)
News/Announcements Box for index page (contents set in admin) (see example site)
Added Classifieds Ad Block for VB3 Main Index page.
Added Classifieds Category Block for VB3 Main Index page.

Let me know of your thoughts so we can make everyone happy

If we could accomplish 2 things for the Classifieds:

1. Only registered users can contact sellers
(This would help on many levels)

2. Sellers must have 30 posts before they can sell.
(I realize that a usergroup auto switch would work as well at desired postcount, but vB.org has no good usergroup advancement at post count to my knowledge.)

Change the postcode distancing code so it accepts alphanumeric codes instead of numeric only.

Have a phone number field that is only visible on the "Contact Seller" page.

Auto subscribe a user to their advert.

(I have done all the above, but it's a pain having to recode it when a new version comes out...)

Add an admin option to define how many hosted images you wish to allow the user to upload per classified advertisement.

If that's too hard, then just allow up to 6 instead of 3.

3 isn't really enough... other PhotoPost products allow more than 3 as well.

Those changes are made in Classifieds as noted above. 6 image uploads

Somewhere around here I made a post about a better way to layout the classified category selection process.

At 800x600 or even 1024x768 you might have some problems with the current method if the person has more than 2 levels of catergories.

(When placing an ad)

Also, I'm not sure if it does this or not already.... but you might want to have an admin level option to enable/disable emailing people when their classified advertisements have expired so they know to relist them (or can be emailed with their relising options)

hmm I thought there already were thumbnails for cats? Avatars?

There are still some language-files that are not included in the main language-file, I would like to se all phrases in one file.

I would also like to have "location" as a default field for an ad, with dropdown box where one can put counties or cities. Another suggestion is to include zip code and (zipcode)location as information in the ad, when the user has filled in the zipcode.

- "Title for the item you are selling"
- "Asking price"
- "Enter Your Zip Code"
- "Description"
- "descriptive keywords"
- "comments"
- "members feedback"
- registration/user name
- etc...

+ Bad words filter/replacer
+ post-editable "Profile" for users
+ statistics "reset" ("Value of items sold"...)

Is there anyway to get email notification, when someone leaves a comment on a ad/auction or when someone bids, or wants to purchase it?
