CVS repositories?

3 different apps, lots of needed patches/fixes buried in the support forums until the next update of each app.

CVS might be a good idea?

Jeremy,

Before you set up a CVS repository, have a look at Subversion: http://subversion.tigris.org

I was trying to compare the advantages myself once I stumbled across this and found they're some kind of CVS-improved. So I got back in touch with my system admin expert, who recommended I should definitely move on to Subversion, instead. He said it can be quite challenging to work with in the beginning, but it's worth it. And that he's been migrating all his servers and projects away from CVS to go with this one.

I'm still buried way deep in my own PRE-development process, trying to decide still what websites i'm going to be running on which server and how to integrate my vBulletin site ... so it'll be a real long time before I can offer any practical knowledge, whatsoever. I can tell you, though, he also said TortoiseSVn is the client to install that's comparable to WinCVS, if you've used that: http://tortoisesvn.berlios.de

Hth... and good luck.

Subersion looks nice too.

Here's a comparison review on JoeStump: http://www.joestump.net/913108051/su...vs-review.html

All I know is these guys need a better way to track and distribute changes than what they have going.
