Posting by group

I really need to set posting by group.

i.e.

USERS = Pay via payPal with Admin approval
Advertisers Group ( who pay a yearly fee) = don't pay at each ad submission

This really needs to get looked at. Any plans for adding this?

Michael P December 27th, 2004 04:02 PM

We can consider it for a future release, although its the first request we've had for an exemption to paying for ads and I'm not sure how to implement the feature. But I'll give it some thought.

Thanks Michael.

It appears that someone else might be interested too.

Seems like permission at a group level would be a common request.
I find it interesting that there are only two of us.

This capability was just recently added to Classifieds - I fully expect to see it grow as we continue development, but we only added bidding to Classifieds just recently.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I'll be watching out for future enhancements.

This would help us as well.

yes, this would be great. There is another thread for this going on in the dev. forum:

... no progress so far. Has anybody found a solution?

snoopy5 August 23rd, 2005 02:54 AM

anybody has a solution for stand alone installations?

this thread started in December 2004 and nobody followed up on this ?!

snoopy5 September 22nd, 2005 07:17 AM

Hi

Classifieds 2.4.2 is now the newest version, but still no progress for ad-priviliges by usergroups.

The mentioned thread in the dev.-forum is for vbullting integrations only.

I am still looking for a solution for a classifieds stand alone installation. Since this suggestion started in December 2004 (!) and many users requested this, I honestly do not understand why this is not yet implemented.

Are sugggestions considered at all, or can we save our time and stop posting in this section?

Sorry for the harsh words, but I just do not see progress here when checking all my old suggestions and bug reports after weeks and months. And it is now 10 months after this suggestion, which many users asked for. See also here:

Seffern

Please note the suggestions forum is just that. As a company we assign everything by priority. There are by count 3 users out of the many many classifieds user's we have whom have spoken up about this. There is no guarantee on what new features will or will not be included as you know. Classifieds has not had an active beta in quite some time with most releases involve bug fixes security fixes and the major release of classifieds with the new security code. Once we enter a beta for Classifieds we will look at the suggestions forum for ideas but I can not say when exactly that will be.

snoopy5 September 22nd, 2005 07:48 AM

... I understand this. But have you ever seen more then 5 written request for a specific feature? Suggestions are not polls. With suggestions, 1-5 people write about it, the rest of the users read and agree silently.

It would be unfair that non-vbulletin users are getting punished because there are more features available only if you use vbulletin (there are some forum software out there, which are significant better than vbulletin).

If someone wants to make money with his internetsite (we all do I guess), this usergroup differentiation is one of the more obvious and easy possibilities to cover the costs of running a site.

You need costumers that buy classifieds. If you make it easier for them to cover the costs by features like this, you will more likely sell more licences...

Moving the global payment switch to usergroup settings is rather an easy thing so I would expect that to move when we enter a new beta cycle

snoopy5 September 22nd, 2005 08:08 AM

I can not wait for new bety cycles. I waited already too long. I need that feature now.

Can you send me a quote how much that costs if you would do it now?

Chuck S September 22nd, 2005 08:23 AM

What to move the global payment switch to the usergroups?

Just email me it should not cost an arm and a leg

snoopy5 September 22nd, 2005 09:03 AM

... I sent you an e-mail a minute ago...

tormodg September 24th, 2005 06:54 PM

I'm VERY interested in this as well. We have a science forum where we want our sponsors to poast ads for free, while regular members must pay the base fee.

websissy October 8th, 2005 09:02 AM

Let me add my voice to this growing chorus. I too would very much like to be able to charge a classifieds fee for some user groups but not for others.

Are we any closer at this point to this becoming a reality?

Also, I find it very disappointing that so far, I've not been able to find ANYTHING like instructions on how to set up the classifieds so that it requires and accepts PayPal payments for ad placements. I came here looking for that, but it seems to be completely absent. I've adjusted the setup otions for PayPal and I've specified a fee at the classifieds level. Is that ALL there is?

Thanks!

Chuck S October 9th, 2005 11:35 AM

To setup payment under payment options you turn the switch to YES and enter your paypal email

Then under edit categories you specify the payment amounts in the categories.

jvancamp October 30th, 2005 03:02 PM

Any more up dates on the payment by user groups? I also need this.
