| Prefix and Reconfig Questions.
Chuck,
I managed to not answer the install questions correctly. This resulted in an unrecoverable error after hitting the configure button.
I now know, that since I am doing a XenForo integration, I should NOT have left the forum db prefix question blank, and that it should be 'xf', probably the same for the cookie question.
____
I was also confused on the db theory in general. I thought it was advised to install in the forum db, rather than use two separate db's.
Does Classifieds need it's own db or can it run with prefixed tables in an existing forums db as I have managed to do.
I did specify an alternate prefix for the Classifieds db, but pointed the install to the forums db. And I do now have a set of tables, apparently new, with the Classifieds prefix, along with my xf_ prefix tables.
I have looked at my now existing 'config-inc', and there are no lines to edit for the forum prefix or cookie prefix, probably since they were left null.
_____
What is the best way to fix this ?
I have built another mySQL db for the classifieds if need be.
Do I re-run install.php ? 'Click here to run a 'fresh' install."
Or are there other files I should edit manually instead ?
Thank You.
Merry Christmas. |

You do not need to install the classifieds in a separate database. The classifieds is prefixed with a separate prefix so same database is fine.
To fix your issue you need to do one of two things.
1. Run the install script again and answer all the forum stuff correctly.
or
2. Go database diving in the cp_settings table and change setting with id of 83 and 182 which should be the database and cookie prefix settings in that table.

I changed the values, and the classified's load. Sorta.
Some dots here and there that probably want some text.
I was getting the 'You are not a valid administrator or moderator.' message when attempting a admin-index login.
Tried my search fu, and set cpaccess to 1 in _usergroups.
There are no table entries for groups like Administrator or Moderator, as some of the older version threads mentioned.
Anyhow, when I attempt an admin login now, I get redirected to index.php.
BTW, my admin login page just has a couple of text input boxes on top of each other and a small blue verticle tab below them. No text identifying as Username or PW, just my friends the dots.
I kinda got a half-baked install didn't I ?
Your thoughts are appreciated. The holidays are here, so whenever you get a chance, is fine.
____
EDIT Added: BTW, in _settings, 183 is blank. Nada. Empty.
181 does have the slash.
____
Thanx.

Yeah you did not install it right so you probally just want to get rid of the cp_ tables and start fresh with a clean install.
BTY yes 83 would be blank because remember you did not properly install the application. 182 which is the cookie prefix would be where the cookie prefix is stored if you entered it right. I said nothing about 181 or 183.
Seems I just confused you giving you a second option to look into fixing your issue.
Just properly use the install script and properly fill in the correct information for each and every entry when you install and you should be good to go.

No worries. I realized I was probably going to want it at root rather than the sub I made.
I dropped th eprefixed tables and re-clean installed. Sorta.
I missed the zipdata so got that duplicate try error.
A bunch of other dups as I went through the upgrade links.
I do have a number of duplicate entries on admin-index. At search and mail. I'll go back over the error messages AND poke around in the tables to see what's up.
Otherwise, we be close.
Thanx for all the help, I really appreciate it.

well really your confusing me now. Why would you run upgrades if your doing a clean install. If thats what your doing your going to cause most of your errors and no real need to address it here. Duplicate errors just mean you have already installed things which is why I stated you want to get rid of tables and do a clean install. Once your done that if you installed correctly based on the install instructions there is nothing to do after that. You do not run upgrades.

Well, I wasn't trying to look for more issues.
I ran the install after killing the old tables. It would have been squeaky clean, but I didn't realize the un-prefixed zipdata was a PPClassifieds table.
Anywho, the install ran as we hoped. After step 5 is sez: well... you're almost done... then it runs from version 3.1 up to 5.2 or so with page after page of 'upgrade links'. GUI words, not mine.
Like Alice, I gotta keep passing through the doors to get home. No, I don't want to eat anything bigger than my head.
My experience is very similar to Miss Mary303 in Post #15 here: EDIT: Due to my newbie vB recognition, I can't cut and paste. The horrors of injection.
So be advised it is in this forum and ends with: '146643-question-about-db-vb4-integration.html#post1292759'
'septs I got a bunch more of them, since it's Dec 2012, not Oct 2011.
I only ran install.php. Plain Vanilla.
I'll twiddle with it. No biggie, we're on the right track. Just mentioning for the record.

Well you should not be clicking some upgrade link on the phrases portion as that would only be for people upgrading. There is a whole paragraph there tells you to delete certain files and a link to your admin panel. The link you should be clicking is the admin link,
If you post a url to your install I can let you know what I see.
This is a properly install standalone classifieds test setup here http://www.omegatron.net/classifieds |

Yeah, I got it.
I did a couple more clean installs. I got it down to just one mySQL duplicate error.
I have a feeling, that without the error text, my brain would have been more willing to ignore the Upgrade Link.
My XenForo registration seems fine. Cookieing seems fine. The admin cp looks great w/o my previous 15 double text boxes.
_____
Did I read from a couple years back, that the Classifieds XenForo integration tries to grab the style colors from the XenForo install?
(It looks like it's using the XenForo default style colors. I happen to use a tweaked child style with different shades from default, so I'm just plotting my future css headbanging, after I make sure your stuff is now in place and functioning properly.)
Thanx for your patience.
A Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Yes if you elect to use the forum style under the forum settings in admin we should try to use the forum style.
The style matching is based on the style class names of the default xenforo style class map so if your custom style is very different you may get bad results just an FYI.
As previously stated hard for me to comment on any issue without providing a url to look at.
Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
