| Classifieds Question
Just wondering if there's any way to display new adds via the forum IE: new post shows up with a link to the new add?
I had a problem last time I bought the product where people wouldn't look under their noses for the classifieds link.
Cheers

well your answer is always a mod because your talking the forum not the classifieds product itself. What type of forum are you talking about.
However for instance if your using vbulletin 4 there are included plugins which add classifieds content to the vb user profile as well as all the proper navigation into the vb4 navigation bar and a recent ads block on the forum home. There is also in the mod corner a cms block to display latest ads, stats etc.
Theoretically you could create a php block as well to show the latest 10 ads meaning title and description like a forum latest threads block in the sidebar its all just PHP.

I bought this way back in 2008 but at the time there was no way to display new ads in the main forum (yes I'm running VB4).
I'm assuming the block is for VB's internal CMS? The link wont open for me says its private, I assume that's because my access has expired.

There was always a way to display ads in the vb forum since day one.
In vb3 it was the inc_ads.php file which has been around as long as classifieds has been around.
In vb4 since day one it was with the vb4 plugins released. This was through a block of ads that displayed right on the forumhome.
The example I show you above is a vbulletin sidebar block the last ten ads title and description.
You of course would need to be a customer with access to be able to obtain support and mods and even the latest code for sure. |

That has as well been a part of the software since day one under Edit Ad Types you would enable the types of ads you want and then create categories to assign to the template type.

They should process it within a few hours usually but it can take up to 24 hours if you do not hear anything soon I would suggest you email them through the contact us link in our header.

Its come along way Chuck for sure.
I installed it yesterday and just trying to get my head around it.
Just a few questions.
How does the feedback system work? If somebody puts up a normal ad that isn't an auction I cant see a way to follow it through to give a person feedback.?
The reason I asked is one of the selling point for using this to the other mods was the internal feedback system, we decided early on Auctions style ads aren't suitable for our site at present.
What is the purpose of the Buy it now option as well as "asking price" in a normal ad? I found that a bit confusing.
I modified the business template to act as freebies/Give away items which is very useful on our site.
It certainly is a lot easier to set up now chuck well done.
Regards
Travis

If you view the users classifieds profile that is where feedback can be entered.
Asking price is perfectly normal for a regular ad. Buy it now is a function to allow a user to purchase the ad online through paypal. Users can elect whether or not to allow buy it now.
The asking price is the price the user wants for there ad. In an auction that would be used as a starting point for bidding where as the normal ad you put the price you want.
The buy it now on an auction the user puts the price they would sell the item for to end an auction. On a normal ad the user would put the price they want so asking price and buy it now would be the same on a normal ad.
As stated above the user can elect not to allow buy it now.

Unfortunately I can't find any way to give a user feedback through a VB4 setup. There's no profile page for the user within the Classifieds and it doesn't show up in the user profile within VB4, only thing listed there is the users ads.
Another thing I've noticed is in the Mail setting if you select Both (PM and Mail) you still don't receive a PM.
Also mail received looks like this even if HTML is disabled.
Arcade King has posted a reply about the following ad:<br />
<br />
"Whatevers inside!" - http://www.aussiearcade.com.au/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=16<br />
<br />
A setup issue?
Maybe this needs to be moved to the support section?

Using the new plugin system we can add a special add feedback link anywhere one would want on showproduct.
You would not receive a PM in vbulletin if thats what your expecting. The messaging is talking about the classifieds messaging which you might have turned off.
I would have to see how you have things set as far as mail. I did a test on my setup and mail seems to be sent correct.

Ok sweet how would be go about making the plugin for the give feedback link?
Bit disappointing about not reviving PMs thought VB, Hopefully in a future release?
You're welcome to come have a look if you like, I can set up an admin account for you.
I've noticed the problem only occurs when you get an email about comments made in a ad but when you using the "Contact Seller" its fine.

Our system has never used the vb private messaging system just an fyi although we have had our own pm system for quite some time. No set list of upcoming features yet for the next version.
I will take a look and see if I can replicate things I wanted to see how you have things set to see how to go about replicating it. I have tried with html email off or on here.
As far as some extra feedback link where are you wanting it to display there are multiple locations in the showproduct page.

Re: PM maybe you should make that clear in your advertising that the PMing function doesn't work when used in conjunction with forum software or any other function for that matter that only works in the stand alone version.
In regards to the feedback, all I want is so people can actually give others feedback. You can see the "See Detailed Feedback" in the Classifieds in a users Ad but there is no other user profile other than whats in VB4. There is a Classifieds Tab there but it only lists Statistics.
Is this another feature that only works for the stand alone product?

Our PM function works just fine with forums but in vb4 there is no tab for that in the vb navigation which is probally your issue. You thought we where using the vb pm system.
You would theoretically show the regular menubar by making your menubar template this Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
As far as feedback link in classifieds when viewing a product you can try creating a link on the showproduct below thumbs location and enter the code like this. Code: Content visible to verified customers only.

The problem with adding a dynamic link in the vb navigation system is quite complex. The whole point of the new vb navigation is that it is static. You note even vbulletin does not even use any type of dynamic content there. It is all straight links to certain things. There are only certain variables that that work there and I can even define a variable but that does not make a link dynamic or say even change the link to say if there is a new message.
You can add a link in the submenu in the photopost navigation manager by inserting a new link and I can even do that in the next update but its not going to say 17 new messages like a non vb 4 will do.
Now there is a sidebar plugin I can write to show users there messages if your interested when I have a minute I will post one in the plugins forum. I think I did something similar a few months ago for a user and have to track it down. |

| That menu is 100% better, How would I stop the profile link going to the VB profile and use the internal classifieds one?
