| Few small issues to get my installation going.
Hi there,
Thanks for the previous help, I have a few issues I would like to nip in the bud before I make it live for my users.
1) I have removed all the install/upgrade php files but I still get this when I try and go to my main page For security reasons, please remove the install directory from your server before proceeding.
I believe that I need the install directory?
2) The vbulletin plugin breaks the following pages when I install it Members page
Forumhome
I manually de-activated the "forumhome plugin", "members addon plugin" and the "members block plugin" which seems to have solved the issue.
it gives a 500 (internal server error), when they are on.
3) I managed to get the plugin working which now has fixed the template error's I was having, however now I cannot post an advert.
There seems to be no advert link anywhere (even deep into categories)... I did setup the usergroup permissions but I still cannot see a link or button to post an advert?
4) More of a can I question:
Can I make it so only I can see the MYSQL information (config) I have other administrators etc.
Thank You! note: the cache setting makes my categories disappear, so I have to have that turned off |

1. You need to remove the install directory as the error tells you to do and our upgrade and installation instructions state the same.
2. If you follow the instructions at the bottom of the upgrade and install directions on the plugins making sure all 3 xml files are 777 permissions and then generate your plugin xml which you install into vb you should get no errors.
3. Please reference my answer above. The plugins do work if installed correctly. I would need to see your actual install to comment further. A community photo gallery - ReefTalk Gallery
4. Not if they are true admins. You can have moderators but true administrators usergroup 6 have full admin permissions in the program.

Thanks for your time Chuck.
I cannot really explain what happened, when I installed the plugin... 100% it said that it was on classified 5.0, I removed the plugin re-downloaded the plugin, installed it and it said its now on classifieds 5.2???
Well anyway that fixed all the plugin, it is now NOT braking the members page and forumhome.
But now even with the plugin activated there is nothing on the forumhome, and also there isn't any new areas on the members page/settings?
It is like it is doing nothing now.
I set all file permissions to 777 on the XML files and removed the php files from the install directory, I generated the plugin it seems to have installed it correctly, I removed the install directory, I even changed the plugin order to 1 so they start before all other plugins?
I will enable guest's to upload ad's see if it works for you?
Thanks for the help.

| Main Index - Digital World Classifieds
Sorry forgot URL
EDIT:
I just disabled every single hack except the classifieds, and nothing is showing up in the members page or the forum home?
To be honest I would just like to be able to post adverts for now, but cannot post anything there is no options, I think it is a little strange that it will display categories, side bars, but not allow posting of classifieds?
Thank you.
Mick

Mick the upload photo link is right in the submenu navigation of vb4 when the gallery tab is highlighted meaning in the gallery.
That is the link right under the dark blue bar in the vb navbar header area.

I have attached a photo... I have also not got any navbits... or they are not being constructed correctly, I think it may have something to do with custom style though.
Thanks very much
Mick

That is not the navigation submenu Mick
The navigation submenu is the one that shows up top under the navbar in your picture the one showing the FAQ link etc
Given that your viewing the classifieds and your not showing a classifieds menu that means your navigation links are not installed meaning the xml is not installed correctly.
I would need to actually see your issue but I highly suspect you have edited a template like navbar which is preventing things from being installed correctly when your doing the xml.
Like for instance I already responded on this in another thread. One user hand placed a classifieds link in the navbar template which completely killed his vb navigation system. Like I responded in the other thread revert any changes you have done run a stock navbar and reimport the plugin overwriting the old plugin must check the overwrite.
I think you would find the navigation works. If not you would need to send through the contact us link a url and admin login to look at what your issue is.

You do not need to uninstall classifieds just uninstall the xml plugins and reinstall with a clean navbar. I hope you where talking plugins. |

I did a full re-install, just wanted to make sure!
It did work with a reverted navbar, however it completely messed up my site.
The navbar is actually part of my style, So I believe it has to stay modified.
I also understand that it is nothing to do with photopost classifieds!
I am just going to manually put all the links in place, not too difficult, it is working which is the important part!
Thanks again for the support.
Mick

Mickey I know there is not an issue with our product. There is something in your style etc that needs to be adjusted. The point I am making is multifold.
You can create your own links but you want to adjust your plugin set navigation main thing to the proper link name so any classifieds tab you create and links you create are highlighted and load.
That is why you have no links. I would have to actually see your admin to comment further as I need to understand what your issue is.
Just saying it is messed up is not direct enough

I am not worried about the "MESSED UP" parts, I can work around it,
What I cannot do is revert my navbar template, it "screws" up my site!
So I am working around the small issues, and will make it work once I understand the template system better
Thank you for your time.

Mick what i said was that for me to comment i need real info not just its messed up.
my last post explained how the vb4.2 navigation system works. You must code to the new standards
what my last post says in simple terms if I saw what your doing I could probally tell you how to properly setup your navigation and correct your mod issues. you can not do things like you previously did in the newer vb.
Now it seems like you do not want the help though so have fun.

it was not meant as a negative Mick it is my observation based on your last response.
I have offered to assist in resolving your issue many times and you seem to keep sidestepping things.
You have posted in 3 different threads and this issue is 4 days old and has not been resolved yet. I am merely trying to resolve an open support issue. I could probably resolve your issue in 10 to 15 mins.
If you do not want to have a functional navigation system then edit your menubar template and remove the if clause that surpresses the old style menu and the old menubar will show.

I have been messing about with the classifieds, and it's almost as I want it.
I know it is because of my navbar, but I cannot do anything about that it is heavily modified by the stylist - it is a vb4.20 style also.
If it was not for the help with the plugin you gave me earlier I might have left it, all the problems was from my own doing:
Not setting paths correctly
Some Chmodding not correct.
I was not saying anything negative about photopost, in fact I think its a very nice piece of software.
I can overcome the navbar problems, I have already heavily edited the showproduct template and its starting to look how I want. A TEST ADVERT - Digitalworldz Classifieds
Thanks for the support.

Just so you understand you can create your own nav and sublinks links all you want but make sure under the classifieds plugin that the plugin that sets the navigation main element that you place the proper name of your master classifieds link. You will see in our plugin how we do it. You just need to update that to the name of your link if you know how to do things in your custom style.
I am just trying to help here
based on what you have shown you have yet to have an active classifieds navigation system on the vb navbar.

Okay just making sure you understand what I made here on how to make it the active tab when you click it as that is crucial on loading any sub nav.
