Something seems to be wrong, it only looks right on Firefox. The layout is messed up on both Chrome and Safari. I haven't tried it on IE yet.

Not sure what your seeing but I have viewed my test setup on Mozilla,IE,Chrome,Opera and Safari and it looks the same in every browser. Main Index - PhotoPost Classifieds
Are you using older browsers that might now support newer css.
Here is a picture that shows classifieds in safari and it seems to look like it should

Please check if it works on your end. I have updated browsers so I'm sure that's not the problem. And also I'm getting an error every time I log in.
It says "We're sorry, but the system experienced an unrecoverable error. Please try again later." But then it completes the login process.

definately looks like you did not upgrade it as your copyright still says 4.1 from 2010
I would think you have not uploaded all the new files as the 5.0 release announcement has full notes. The notes above are what files to replace from 5.01 to 5.1 PhotoPost Classifieds 5.0 Released 05-29-2012
That would definately cause you lots of issues I would think if all the proper upgrading has not been done. If your logged in as admin you should see any true mysql error and post it.
Plus your style your trying to use some custom style you made from an old version. Clearly I think most of your issues come from not upgrading correctly. As noted in the announcement for 5.0 you must delete all old stylesheets and templates.

What I actually did was perform a new install and move back the products and categories database content from the old install. It installed with 4.1 in settings table. Do I perform upgrade.php again?
I had to do a fresh install since I did upgraded one too many times on my old one and it had duplicate options in the admin (3 mail settings).

Should I perform another fresh install or do I just upgrade?

I did a totally fresh install of 5.1 which was on the members page. And it still says 4.1. I think something's wrong with your install package.
This is the link:

Also, I solved the problem with the unrecoverable error problem which is traced to the SMF2 integration file. Just have to rename column logtime to log_time under log_online table.

Yes you can not just mix and match tables. doing an install or an upgrade or both but you never import old tables into a new site as that stuff would not be properly upgraded.
Likewise back to your style issue you are using a custom style you made. If you continue to have issue try selecting a style that we made for the new version.

As I mentioned. I made a fresh install in the buy-and-sell link and the style problem still persists. Is there any way I can download 5.0? Maybe that would be a better version than the 5.1

If you download 5.1 and do a proper install you should be fine.
My test site is right here Main Index - PhotoPost Classifieds
I am just telling you oddities I am seeing no your site. Your using some custom style your creating yourself so if you have display issues I would think they are from your stylesheet you made not our supported ones.
The only real issue you reported here I did correct and thats the log_time thing.
Other than that like I said the only oddity I see is your custom style. There seems to be no issues with the classifieds as far as the overall features.

The only issue I see there is your category list is not aligned other than that looks fine
I made a slight change that might help you download the build and upload pp-inc.php

On the buy-and-sell link, I'm not using a custom style anymore. It's a fresh install based on your download package for 5.1
And isn't it wrong enough that after a fresh install, it's saying 4.1 instead of 5.1?

Missed the pp-inc.php part. Thanks Chuck. The custom CSS I did works now as well.
