Two questions / issues

I am running vB 4.1.12 and Classifieds 5.0

How do I remove Classifieds from the menu?

When I place an ad in Chrome the editor is blank and in IE the page won't load. Where did I go wrong?

Thanks

two things here I see

1. what do you mean why would you want to remove classifieds from your vb menu that seems kinda backwards. You can disable any vb plugin you wish under your plugin manager

2. if your referring to say the tinymce editor that is external software. You can try the various options like advanced basic and off and see which resolves your issue this is exactly why there is a switch to turn this off. Since this is external software we do not directly support that it would work in every browser setup.

I used a mod to add tabs to my navbar and already had one for Jobs, so I wanted to remove the one that was added. I found it in the plug-ins like you said.

As for TinyMCE, it would be great if you'd consider CKE in the future. I have categories I added for Employment, if I enable advanced I can't see any editor in Chrome and in IE the page crashes. If I set it to basic, it works in chrome, but still crashes IE. If I turn it off it works in both browsers, but clearly there aren't any editor features at all.
But, if I use the For Sal category that came stock, it works fine.

TinyMCE works fine in both browsers, so it's something that happened during the upgrade.

Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanks

Ugh, it gets worse, I just tried to edit an ad it it shows a blank page.

Edit an ad does not use tinymce

Well note only our tab is properly coded to work right so any hand tab you create will not highlight correctly so that is the tab you want to remove not ours. ;)

Turn off your tinymce editor or set it to basic and see what issue you have left?

I am using the latest software on my site with Tinymce so there is no issue there using a basic editor. The advanced editor has never worked with vb4 that much I have known I have told people to set it to basic for some time now. Now it is important to note I do not use hacks or mods on my vb so this may play havoc on things. Try disabling any plugins besides vb or photopost and test. This is the first thing I tell people is to disable plugins.

I can see if updating tinymce resolves the issue as our tinymce is probally older but thats all I can do.

As for the navbar, I don't doubt you coded it correctly, it's just that I have similar code on other pages for the site so that the header is the same regardless of the part of the site the user is on, and your button was in a different spot, I'll fix it at some point, but I'll keep that the way it is for now.

As for Tinymce, I added this to my config.php define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true); and it still gives an error in IE.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I turned it off, but when I click to edit an ad, the entire page is white except for the header of the page. This is feeling very frustrating.

That seems to tell me maybe you have some corrupt files

I can edit an ad fine on either of the 2 sites I have running 5.0.

You can list more specific information so we can comment further about any issue.

Amedeus June 12th, 2012 08:13 PM

I suspected that also, so I deleted all of the files in my classifieds folder and re-downloaded new files just now, then uploaded all but the two config files, same issues.

Chuck S June 12th, 2012 08:30 PM

well not sure what issue there is except tinymce not showing as your other thing listed here is your trying to not use our supported nav links. That would not be an issue.

You can send us info to look and see how things are set but kinda hard to help without any real specific info. ;)

Hi Chuck,

I'd be happy to send you log in details, but your PM is turned off, where can I send an admin log in?

Thanks, Cliff

You can send full details on what and where you have an issue as well as any login details through the contact us link in the header and when I am in the office tomorow I can have a look.

Message sent, thanks.
