| Classifieds v5.0 Upgrade Issue
Hi Chuck,
I've just upgraded from Classifieds v4.0.2 to v5.0. The installation gave the following error messages (see attached), although it seems to have worked when looking at the resultant Classifieds page.
There is one problem however, I now don't appear to have an 'Admin' field/button on the Classifieds screen which would allow me to run the additional XML plugin process for VB4 users. Can you help please?
I can provide my login details should you wish to look into the issue.
Regards, Lee

Well have you read the documentation to be sure for one your running the proper upgrade for one since everything is now located in an install directory.
Next as far as plugins if your using vb4 yes you can go to admin panel by typing in adm-index.php in your browser window on the classifieds url and then generate the plugins and make sure you have set proper permissions on the xml files so you can generate them.

Hi Chuck,
I followed the UPGRADE.TXT located in the Documentation folder of the v5.0 download. Yes I did run the install from the install directory as mentioned in the above doc. Is that correct?
Should there be an admin field/button like there was with the previously installed version?
Regards, Lee

Lee there would be no specific admin link if you have not installed the plugins. That is different in vb4 as with vb4.20 we use the new navigation menu.

Hi Chuck,
Success! Uploaded the XML file and I now have all the functions below the navbar, thank you very much! Will you be doing the same to PhotoPost v8.xx?
Firstly, I have created a top level category and moved the existing subcats into it, but I don't seem to be able to create the top level directory with a blue bar (similar to how you have done it on Reeftalk and I've done on my Gallery page). I have changed the Show Ads? to 'No' for this, but to no avail. Any ideas?
Secondly, as it did before after the upgrade to v4.2, all of my thumbnails for each category are the same! Take a look: Main Index - Classifieds. To be fair, I didn't pursue a fix via you, so its probably the same issue?
Regards, Lee

Yes in vbulletin 4.2 and higher with the new navigation menu we will be integrating into the vb menu if using the enhanced integration.
You need to set on index options that top level categories do not contain information that way it will be the long bar
Now as far as your cat avatar thing if you never came to me with an issue to fix I do not know what to tell you. I do not have this issue as seen on my site or any site I have seen so I would need more info here. Basically the thumbnail column would only be updated if it is equal to 0 meaning empty.

Sorted! Thanks again Chuck. I do like the new look of Classifieds, very clean.
I'll take a look at the cat avatars now following your info. Last problem to solve, then I'm all up-to-date and happy |

Yep understand what is going on with your cat avatars check in your products table what is the thumbnail column set to. It should be 0 by default.
If it is not 0 nothing should be updated.
You can go into those categories and tag whatever cat avatar you want to use.

Hi Chuck,
I just created another top level category and did not assign an cat avatar to it, but in the box it reads '29'. In the Race Cars category, I assigned a path to one of my images ( http://www.superstox.co.uk/zz_images/393.jpg) to see what would happen. It duplicated this image to all categories that followed it. Does this sound to you like DB corruption?

well the field should be 0 not blank.
I can not respond without seeing what your database has for those entries.
Looking at the application the thumbnail column is default 0 if yours are null that might cause an issue

Hi Chuck,
Yes I did have blanks. I replaced a blank field in one of the categories with a zero and that has resolved it showing duplicate images. I've since replaced the blanks with URL to the images I want to show. All seems to be working well.
In the admin panel - Edit Categories, the comment for Category Avatar File Path says:
(leave blank to use default program option otherwise place a full url to an image to use as an avatar. It is best to have these set to all the same size.)
So should this read set to zero and not leave blank?
Regards, Lee

Hi Chuck,
All minor issues I had are now fixed. Looks like blank fields on my cat avatars proved to be the culprit!
Look forward to seeing the PhotoPost Pro updates for vb4.2 integration.
Both PhotoPost Pro v8.x and Classifieds v5.0 are great improvements over their predecessors - and a greater pleasure to use them!
That's me signing-off now, all problems rectified - cheers!
Regards, Lee

For sure they are marked improvements over the previous versions. Well worth all the effort put in.
Quick question on its operation. I have just added a race car advert for someone and it has changed the cat avatar to that of the picture I added to the advert. Is that what you would expect to happen (i.e. the main category avatar changes to the latest advert)? I don't mind this feature, I just want to make sure with you that my installation is sound!
Regards, Lee

If there is no category avatar set then yes it would be set to an ad that is uploaded to it.
