Posting privledges lost

I just upgraded to the 4 version and my lower levels, registered, level 1 groups seem to have lost their posting and comment ability. Administrator still has access.

I checked the Edit UserGroups and all seems well and they are allowed in the Categories.

Where else should I look?

Thanks

I would suggest you check usergroup and category permissions there are no issues that I am seeing. vb3 vb4 its all the same as far as usergroups. Guests are group 1 registered group 2 etc etc

Yes, you are right! I have not recognized what is happening, the classifieds is not keeping the log in information from the forums. A user is needing to log in to the classifieds even though they're logged in the forums. I suppose this makes it an integration issue, or a cookie problem?

Forum settings show:User Registration System vb3

I seem to have some blocks showing that must be related to old installs. They may or may not matter.

In forum settings, there is:
UBBThreads Users: Default theme setting
Threads Users: We need to know what the site default theme setting is.

infopop

In cookie settings, there is:

Your Forum Cookie Name
Only needed for users of SMF, UBBThreads, WowBB and phpBB3 forums

well then look at the cookie that your forum creates and look at the one classifieds creates what is different?

rcull March 16th, 2011 10:41 PM

I am trying.
I looked at the config.php in vb and it has a prefix set to bb
In the "Cookie Settings" in PPC it is set to bb

I think I found the cookies on my other computer and they seem to be:

It kind of looks like a prefix missing in PPC, but I don't see or understand it.

Thanks

well the cookie tutorial sticked in the photopost faq forum explains cookies they need to be set exactly and both apps clearly mark where to set cookie settings in admin. You also need to make sure your proper vb license has been entered in the config of your classifieds.

I really can not comment more without a test login and url placed here.

You can find the forum here: Team Buick - Team Buick Front Page
The link to the classifieds is in the top menu or here: Main Index - Team Buick Classifieds

If I said I seemed to keep my cookie in a couple of tests, would you say I was nuts?

Thanks

Chuck S March 17th, 2011 10:31 AM

Not nuts just blind ;)

I found it your login was still cached in my browser anyway the issue was simple but sometimes often overlooked. Your cookie prefix was different in the forum. Your forum prefix was bb_ your classifieds prefix was simply bb

That is why your logins where different.

rcull March 17th, 2011 10:48 AM

Thanks!

That seems to have fixed it, but I am not sure I understand yet.

I must have been looking in the wrong place?
I was looking in my forums config.php and found:

// Prefix that all vBulletin cookies will have
// Keep this short and only use numbers and letters, i.e. 1-9 and a-Z
$config['Misc']['cookieprefix'] = 'bb';

so that is what I had in PPC, and I thought everything had work properly before the upgrade:(

Aw well, Thanks again!:)

Chuck S March 17th, 2011 12:53 PM

well your vb cookie name was being created as this

bb_userid

Your classifieds this

bbuserid

I don't mean to take too much of your time, but I wasn't looking for the cookie name where I should have been. Where should I have looked for that?

Chuck S March 18th, 2011 07:20 AM

depends on browser. I use mozilla under tools options privacy options you can view cookies.

I actually when looking at cookies look at name as well as the data in them
