Chuck
I am running vB 4.0.1 and still have the old classified 3.2.1 on my server (turned off). I never installed any of the betas. Can I do the 4.0.0 gold install to the 3.2.1 to retain old records or is it best just to do a fresh install of classifieds?
Thanks

Just do an upgrade. Copy over all the files except the install.php and config files and run the upgrade from 3.2 to 4.0

| Version issues
Just bought and installed pp Classifieds 4.0
but,
in the footer, it shows: Powered by: PhotoPost Classifieds 3.21 vB3 Enhanced Copyright 2010 All Enthusiast, Inc.
In the admincp, it shows: Classifieds 3.13 Update!
And on the classified main page on this website ( http://www.photopost.com/class/) it shows: PhotoPost Classifieds 2.61 now available!

| Integration with vb4
In the admin options etc, i saw vb4 while installing, but all other options refer to vb3 ? is that how it is supposed to be?
the integration options all refer to vb3 in the admincp... it appears to be working fine with vb4, so looks like a typo (except the text does not show in drop downs).

Your talking about the news script not the version. The version is listed under statistics and it most definately says 4.0
We just released 4.0 so it takes a week or so till the webmaster here updates the news scripts.

I had a previous Beta version so I assume there is no database update.
My admincp is black. Can I change that to another style?
And don't I replace sendnotice.php?
How do I send notices now?
It's confusing when my new config file says Beta and my previous version said Beta2. |

The first post should answer your questions. You need to upload all files except the config files and run the upgrade script.
sendnotice still works fine thats the server cron task. There is a separate file that is a silent file that is used as the footer cron.

This install script will upgrade your 3.2 release to 4.0. Only run this upgrade if you have the 3.2 version of the database in place (either by previous upgrades or if upgrading in order to the latest).
| And when I run the upgrade, I get this. Quote:
Preparing to update database...
Error performing MySQL command: ALTER TABLE cp_categories ADD ugnopay VARCHAR(255) NULL AFTER ugnopost
Error: Duplicate column name 'ugnopay'
Upgrade complete!

Well this is the part that confused me. Quote: |
There is an upgrade script to run to add any new fields needed even if you where running the beta.
| Running the upgrade causes an error.
I was running the beta2 and the config file still says beta.
This install script will upgrade your 3.2 release to 4.0. Quote: |
Only run this upgrade if you have the 3.2 version of the database in place (either by previous upgrades or if upgrading in order to the latest).
| Again, I already had 4 beta2 and that is not what the script says.
And how do I change the style of the admin section?
The background is now black.

As the instructions above state you need to run the upgrade script again.
You can set whatever style photopost classifieds wants to use in admin => layout options.

| I'm assuming it will not cause a problem down the road.

Nope a duplicate error is no problem that was something added in BETA 2 thats why you had it
What was added was all this stuff for the footer cron feature and true reserve feature. Code: Content visible to verified customers only.

Chuck,
With regard to this new version, is VB4 required or it just supports VB4 now too? (I'm still on 3.8.4 and plan to be for some time)
Second, have any field names changed in the database? I'm assuming you may have added some fields or tables, but have you changed or dropped any? I ask because we have a very extensive integration with ecarlist, ebizautos and other XML feeds that deliver vehicles to our classifieds and are populated into the database, if field names change or go away that presents a problem for us and I don't want to break anything without knowing what needs to be fixed.
I'm running 3.2 currently and never installed any betas for the new product.
Thanks in advance!
