Difficulties setting up payments etc.

Im going through setting up the classifieds but having difficulty getting my head around the payment side of things and how it works!

The classifieds is vehicle related and broken into the following catagories:
  • Vehicles for sale
  • Parts for sale
  • wanted
  • Other

I idealy wanted subs set up so 1 week, 1 month, 6 months & 12 months could be purchased, but with a maximum ammount of ads set per sub. Also I wanted to charge more for the "vehicles for sale" section. but looking at it dont see how I can do this!?

Instead I have opted for a single sub of one year & a max of 50 ads at a set cost!

So my question is, do "subscription" payments work with "per ad" payments? And if so which takes priority ?

The more I look at it the more confused I get any pointers would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Well lets talk about the confusion.

Well payments and subscriptions are different things so lets get that out of the way so you can stop being confused.

As far as payments you can setup the payment options and under edit categories for each category you can set a payment amount to place an ad in that category. You of course control what groups are setup to pay in admin edit usergroups.

Now say for instance you want to create groups that dont have to pay everytime like regular users thats where subscriptions come in. If you have vbulletin I would suggest you use the vb subscription system because its been around alot longer than ours and is more feature rich as in its going to add features to both vbulletin and classifieds basically. You can sell access to forum and classifieds only content etc in one package. If not then use the subscription thing in classifieds it will work for classifeds. Simply put a subscription can elevate a user into another usergroup where you can set different permissions like for instance access to not have to pay each time they place an ad for the duration of there subscription.

I hope that clarifies some things.

Thanks for the reply, im a little less confused now

Infact I got an IT security friend to sort it out for me

Now we have the subs and paid ads setup how we like using the main VB Subscriptions.

The problem we have now is, how do we get the VB subs we setup showing in the classifieds navbar to replace the built in subs, so that they can been clearly seen & purchased??? As at the moment the can only be accessed via the main UserCP

I think this is the last bit we need to sort out and then we will be ready to rock n roll

Cheers

Al

well I cant tell you what the vb url is to access them as I have not setup vb subscriptions before but you can replace our link in the topmenu function in pp-inc.php with the vb one.
