Umlaut not correct in Categories

Hi,
as said before we upgraded to the last version and use the original english language file at the moment.

But as we use the clasifieds in Germany we have some Problems with ä,ö,ü - some special german letters.

The admin panel shows that:

Umlauttestkategorie ���� (Order: [Delete] [Add Subcat] [Edit] [Empty] [Moderators]

Umlauttestkategorie II öäü (Order: [Delete] [Add Subcat] [Edit] [Empty] [Moderators]

Umlauttestkategorie III öäüÖÄÜ (Order: [Delete] [Add Subcat] [Edit] [Empty] [Moderators]

But the user index is wrong:

The first entry looked as the other two, but I modified it directly in the table. Now it shows correct letters in the user index but not in the admin panel.

We updated mysql from 4.whatsoever to 5.0.32-Debian_7etch1-log
We seem to have the same problems with the gallery.

Any ideas?

Well since we dont support german my initial response is for you to check your adm-inc.php file and see you have properly loaded the right charset for german characters to work

As I stated you might want to modify things to support german if thats what you want

1) how do I activate the new adm-inc.php, after changing ist?
2) Any collation preferred for the mysql tables or anything to look for there?

Make sure to upload it to your directory

utf collation would be best if thats the type of data you want to display
