I keep getting this error when installing?

Unable to create/write to /var/www/vhosts/refrigeration-engineer.com/pp-classifieds/data! Check your data directory permissions before continuing.

now my directory is set to 777 so can anyone help?

Chuck S January 6th, 2007 03:32 PM

Make sure the path is correct and that the directory data and all its subdirectories are 777

dsurban January 6th, 2007 03:39 PM

yep, done that 196 times (trust me on this one) but I still keep getting the same thing

Unable to create/write to /var/www/vhosts/refrigeration-engineer.com/pp-classifieds/data! Check your data directory permissions before continuing

any thoughts?

Chuck S January 6th, 2007 10:13 PM

With that error sorry no other thoughts on this one as that error is absolute it means the directory is not writable. Therefore only two ideas the directory is not 777 or the server path is incorrect. Check phpinfo to verify the path. Make sure to use the true path not symbolic links

OK, tried a few more times but not getting it. I have ordered the instal service :)

Chuck S January 7th, 2007 10:09 AM

Not a problem at all.

dsurban January 7th, 2007 03:18 PM

when will someone contact me :)

Chuck S January 7th, 2007 05:36 PM

If you purchased an install service customer service should email you the install contract and once you send that back the installer will install the product. If you want to contact customer service about the status of your order email custserv@photopost.com

hey there, back from work and they have still not responded to my emails?

any way you can poke them with a big stick? cheers

elyk January 8th, 2007 02:27 PM

Check to see that your host allows chmod 777, some hosts only allow 755 now.

Chuck S January 8th, 2007 02:55 PM

I am not seeing any emails in our helpdesk about installs. Who did you send it to?

dsurban January 8th, 2007 02:55 PM

I have my own server and have other stuff running 777 so its not that, I think :)
