Reinstall on new server

I had to reinstall my classifieds on a new server as I switched providers. The new host provider transfered all my files. They mis-informed me about the classifieds after I specifically asked them if a new re-installation would have to take place. I re-installed them myself by copying only the install file to the proper directory. Everything was successful except its not using the most recent database info. as I now have just a handful of members and ads. How do I go in and restore the most recent database and determine if I installed everything correctly. My knowledge base is next to nothing on this issue. I'm sure its probably something simple. Also, the classifieds are not using the template that I had set up it on. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

PS I changed the DNS numbers back to original host provider so the original classifieds display properly to the public

I'll stick my $0.02 in and give you a clue and this carries no additional support. Your server provider will need to assist you. Proper directory names need to be plugged in as well as the root password.

Your mileage may vary. Also, this is on Linux.

Moving your mysql database:
Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Moving your web directory files:
Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
chmod files to new user name.

Basically if they moved it they need to fix it

Here is how you move a site

1. You move the database to the new server

2. You move the classifieds directory to the new server

3. Edit your config files with the new database connect info and server path

4. Reset all directory and file permissions based on the install documentation

5. Login and go to global options in admin and update the data and uploads server paths to the new paths

THATS IT.
