Can't log in after installation

When I log in at:

/classifieds/adm-index.php

It says login successful and redirects to /classifieds/misc.php

..which then takes me to:

/classifieds/index.php

It doesn't seem to want to take me to the admin area.

So, I looked on the server and noticed some admin files.

I tried to go to:

/classifieds/adm-users.php

..but that just takes me back to:

/classifieds/index.php

It wont let me in the admin area.

I tried deleting the cookies. No good either.

Tons of threads on cookies and vb3 here

You must ensure your cookies are set exact between the apps and your vblicense number is set in the config of our program

cookie path /

cookie prefix bb

cookie domain .domain.com

More than likely on the classifieds install you did not input on step 4 the proper cookie prefix

"Tons of threads on cookies and vb3 here" ??

I didn't know IF it's a cookie problem or not. I just figured if I asked it may be some common problem and someone will say: "Oh... that again, just... and ... and it will be all good". I just paid over $400 for 2 scripts and licenses, and I should be able to ask a simple question without being told to go search threads for something that I didn't even know to search for.

Chuck, perhaps a "step by step" instructions.... in the documentation would be helpfull, instead of sending us all over the place looking for an answer that is encoded in tons of posts. Just think, a link to explicate instructions, only have to do it once, it would save us and you a tremendous amount of time.

I'm still having problems, and I think I DID everything that has been posted here... unless there are some hidden threads, I haven't found.

I responded to your thread with an answer and you post this kind of stuff above. Where has anyone asked you to go search. Enjoy your weekend

Look Chuck, I'm not blasting you, I'm making a suggestion and letting you know my and the original poster of this thread's frustration.

You've got a lot on your plate with over 25K posts and you've helped me with appreciation on several other issues.

I want my site to become a "Poster" site PhotoPost, and it WILL be, but I've got to resolve this integration issue, and my suggestion is a "step by step" instruction for all of us. Like you said Tons of threads on cookies and vb3 here"

Just some constructive criticism

I'm searching all over the forums for "can't log in", "vB cookies" etc.. I can't make heads or tails of anything. None of the problems I am finding match my problem. Then when I think I have found one that is similar, it's for vBgallery or something.

I extract some things to try though. I have seem people being told repeatedly to check their license number. I checked mine, it's fine. I Also see one posts where it says that adm-index.php should not be needed to log in and that login is integrated with vB.

I don't think my problem is cookies (or maybe it is). I seem to be logged in, but I can't access any admin features. When I log in, it just takes me to the classifieds index page. So I try to log in again and it takes me there again.

I would really appreciate at least a hint? Do you have any idea at all? I don't even know where to start looking, and I am finding searching for random strings that may or may not be related to my problem annoying.

I don't have a problem searching the forums -- but for what? I don't see anyone discussing this particular problem.

I already posted a step by step in your thread and as my last post states no one asked anyone to search. I posted step by step instructions how cookies are to be set correctly to integrate with vb3.

Matt please keep your responses to your thread

Of course that is my response. Look at your post here where you go off after we have already answered the topic cause you misunderstood what is being said like we are asking you to search or something

Your issue is simple and we responded how to correct it right in my initial post here in this thread

Can't log in after installation

If you login fine see the admin link and click it and get presented with a login box again and login and get bounced from admin your cookie prefix is not correct as we posted. We responded how to fix it just rerun install and where noted place the cookie prefix.

If you want further assistance if your issue is not as you have described it then you can post a url and test login here. Have a good weekend

Look mate, no offense -- but to a person that has no knowledge of the script whatsoever, knows nothing about it or what the settings are or what they should be or where they're located or which settings should be the same as vB -- that reply is pretty cryptic.

You may as well have given me a Chinese road map.

Secondly, the reason I got upset was that the first line in your response was:

Quote:
Tons of threads on cookies and vb3 here
I found this to be rather uncaring. If you had've just said: "Sounds like a cookie problem. This has been discussed many times before. Just do a search on "xxxx" or "xxxx" and you should find your answer" .. I likely would have said: "oh ok".

All I have right now is that I have a cookie problem and that it has something to do with "/" and "cookie prefix bb" and "cookie domain .domain.com"

Seeing as I have never used this script and don't even really know how it's supposed to act, and seeing as I have no idea what you're talking about and you have not directed me to a thread which explains, I can see myself stuffing around for hours more trying to join the dots.

Lastly, I think you need a holiday.

P.S. And you don't end each thread with "Have a nice weekend" to a person you've obviously made upset. It is sarcastic and antagonizing.

Telling someone to have a good weekend after you have told them how to fix there issue is not sarcastic. I noted you forgot to enter your cookie prefix on step 4 of install

I dont see where I need to redirect you anywhere. I responded to what your issue is. You need to rerun your install and on step 4 as I noted enter your cookie prefix of bb. This is what you forgot when you installed. In your vbulletin admin please ensure your cookie settings in there program are as I posted.

To have the login read correctly in our application the vbulletin license number must be correctly entered in the config on first step of install and on step4 we ask for that cookie prefix. The vbulletin password cookie is a mix of the password cookie prefix and vblicense number if either of these are incorrectly entered on install script you will not get into admin.

post your mysql table prefix of vbulletin here and I can try and fix it for you but you still need to per the install instructions set your uploads and data directories at every level to 777
