Feb 20 Build says Version 2.42??

I purchased and downloaded Classifieds on Feb 6th. It installed fine, but I didn't try to set it up for use until today. First test ad w/photo failed because the "data directory did not exist" error.

So, I do some research and see other folks being told to re-download the complete software because a fix to this problem was made on Feb 9th. So, I go and look at re-downloading and find that a new build of Feb 20th is listed. So I download that and decide to install it from scratch since 95% of the files were dated Feb 20.

I open config-inc.php in the Feb 20 build and what do I see?

// PhotoPost Classifieds Version Number
$VERSION = "2.42";

So, I stopped doing anything until this is explained. The Feb 6th build of Classifieds shows a version of 2.5 in the same place.

AND... I really want to know... if you are making these bug fix versions why aren't you bothering to either notify us paying customers via email OR posting some kind of announcement on the forum?????

Please get back to me ASAP and tell me what I need to do to get this software I purchased from you installed and working.

Thanks
Paul Green
PS. I have PhotoPost and ReviewPost up and working so I know very well how to get your products set up and running.

The install.php file writes the config file when you install and if you open that file you will see it says 2.5 is the version it writes to the config. The starter config makes no difference here what it says as it is overwritten the minute you run install.php and save your config on install.

There have been one or two bugs reported and fixed and shown on the forums and we always update the build so new customers are not affected by fixed bugs. Once we get enough bug reports we make an announcement of a version update like say 2.51. We are not there yet though as there has not been that many changes to the files. If your seeing all the files saying 2/20 it is how your zip client is unzipping the files. The main distribution files are not all dated the 20th I can say that for sure.

Just upload the new files except the config and you will be fine with nothing else needed to be done.

Well, I downloaded the zip file today. I unzipped the zip file today and all the directories created are shown as 2/26 which is today's date. But all the individual files are dated 2/20/2006.

If my zip program was just putting today's date on the files they would all say 2/26 not 2/20.

I'll give it a try though.

By the way, I got my test ad to work, by manually creating a "4" directory inside the data directory and then creating the large and thumb dir too. I chmodded everything and then it worked.

However, the thumb wasn't created. It shows everywhere including on the "recent" ads box on the index page in full size. I'm using ImageMagick and it's working fine to make thumbs in PP.

One more thing. There is a typo in admin/Upload Ads Options. You have
"Maximium side for a supersized image?" and surely that should be Maximum size.

What does the bottom option in admin/Upload Ads Options mean?
"Maximum PHP file upload size?"

Why would I want folks to upload PHP files???

Maybe files are encoded by our site when they encoded the license number on the program who knows. I can tell you though the distribution files are not all dated 2-20 for sure

Thanks for the typo on Maximum side option

As far as PHP file max upload lets explain what that is. That is the maximum file upload size allowed in PHP defined by PHP. This option allows you to explicitly set this to match the filesize in your PHP settings so users get a warning saying they are trying to upload a filesize that the server will not allow. If you did not have this then it would default to PHP which alot of times just does a white page with no error message. It has nothing with allowing PHP files to be uploaded.
