| 2.5: Buy now with auctions does not work
Hi
Classifieds 2.5: Buy now with auctions does not work
If I start an auction and allow also to use paypal for the buy now feature, this does not work. The auction appears, but if a user clicks on "buy now", he gets an error like "the ad could not be found, please contact the admin" (translated)
I I do the same with a normal ad (no auction) it works properly.
What could be the reason for this?
Thanks in advance

mmmmhhh,
I di that change at the buy now option disappears.
BUT I think this "buy-now" option is especially for auctions helpful. Same like with ebay auctions.
What would I have to change in the code to have this "buy now" option also in auctions, not just in ads? So that the seller can offer both at the same time for his article:
1. a starting price
2. a higher "buy now" price,
in case a buyer does not want to wait or bid on something, he simply clicks on buy now and he is the new owner...
This would enhance the attraction of the auction option a lot!
So how to modify/hack this ?
Thanks in advance
P.S.: and implement this in the next release or even already in the next bug fix pleeeeeaaaase

The buy now button is just for regular ads and not auctions and the code posted above is what is going to be added into the build.
You can discuss code modifications in the modifications forums.

Chuck,
Do you plan to add the "Buy It Now" feature to auctions?

Will it be quite awhile before we will see this feature added or will it be real soon?
My users really want to use this feature right now and cant.

Personally I am wondering why its taking Photo Post so long to impliment these new features. Developement seems awful slow for some reason.
Chuck how much longer will it be before we will see any improvements or added features to Classifieds?
Buy it now (auctions & Classifieds), reserve price, dutch, feedback point system style, require no catagories, etc etc etc.

Development slow?
Most companies your lucky to get a version a year maybe. Use vbulletin as an example. That It like 3 years to get vbulletin 3.5 out the door and well over a year for 3.6
2.42 was release about a year ago and then 2.5 which was a major overhaul with new features was released in February. The last couple releases of our Reviewpost and Classifieds lines have been unequaled in the amount of featured added.
I can not say what the new version will or will not have.

Yes Chuck developement is slow here, Vbulletin is a bad example as I am comparing you to other Auction and Classified programs that are out there.
If you take a look at some of the others that are out there (I would show you web urls but you would probably remove them anyway in fear of competion or something) they are way ahead of you guys. Now they may not have the Vbulletin integration or bridging like you do as they don't focus on customers who need or use integration of message boards as their main customers but they are so much further ahead on the features and functionality side of this.
Why dont we have alot of the features already in place that are pretty much common of most auctions expecially Ebay? This is what your customers are looking for pretty much everything that Ebay would have. I have made many feature suggestions and most have gone unanswered or not implimented thus far. Most of these features we 'shouldnt' have to make suggestions and explain them in detail to you how they work, you guys are smart enough to go look on Ebay and other program websites to see what the majority out there are using and what their customers are wanting and using.
Chuck when will we see some new version releases with more features and functionality changes or corrections added?
If I dont start to see some new features added to your programs (preferrable Photo Post Classifieds) I think I am going to look elsewhere for a classifieds / Auction program and stop paying for the yearly membership access fee, as of right now I dont feel Im getting my monies worth. Anyone else care to join in on this conversation and view their thoughts about this issue?

Well everyone is entitled to their opinions. You are never going to make everyone happy that is a sure thing. You can not compare our program to ebay. It will never be exactly like ebay and that is a bad example since ebay is not like most any classifieds softwares comparible with our site.
There is not date on the next release. I think expecting our company to release more than two or three releases a year is unrealistic but thats just me. I am working on things which is mainly as we did on reviewpost last a bug fix and some new code formatting with a few new things added in.
