| PhotoPost Classifieds Beta 4 Released
Okay we have released PhotoPost Classifieds 2.5 beta 4
Here is what I have been done thus far from reading over the suggestions forum and trying to see what was brought up many times Alot of user suggestions have been added. The items in bold at the bottom of the new feature list is what has changed since beta 3. Just upload the files and run upgrade.php again - Added currency selector on uploadproduct for user to specify currency overriding site global currency. The currency shows correctly on showproduct and showcat. Example shown here. This seems to be a suggestion I have seen a few times here (see example site)
- added in category moderators
- added cache table to come into line with the rest of our products
- added thumbnail templates feature
- header footer headtags and language file editor in admin
- added new enhanced admin layout on options to make it easier to manage
- added php info and htaccess editor to admin
- added calendar pal
- added 3 more images to ad display from the current 3 for a total of 6
- MOVED PAYMENT TO A PER USERGROUP SETTING INSTEAD OF GLOBAL SETTING (THIS SEEMS TO BE THE NUMBER ONE REQUEST I SEE )
- Added in Category Intro feature which allows you to enter introduction of category specific rules etc.(contents set in category editor) (see example site)
- News/Announcements Box for index page (contents set in admin) (see example site)
- Added Classifieds Ad Block for VB3 Main Index page.
- Added Classifieds Category Block for VB3 Main Index page.
- Added in Category Subscriptions so one can be notified of new ads in a specific category.
- Added ability to edit your ad and pay for highlight italic and bold on when editing your ad for poster to pay for more exposure.
- Added usergroup limit on number of ads a user can post to avoid users spamming your forum.
- Added in spider url feature from other products.
- Redesigned memberslist page to add in link to show all a users ads.
- Improved on the fly watermarking script.
- Added in ability to Close an Auction Early by Admin or User.
- Supersize images now shown in popup window instead of loading full browser with full data path.
- Buy It Now button added.
- Search by Zipcode and Radius( Distance from Zipcode ) added to search page. Will display all ads within specified distance from target zipcode.
- Link added to Ad Display to show all user ads.

Hi Chuck,
Do you have a list of files that have changed since Classifieds 2.5 beta 1?
I really don't want to redo all the files again.
Thanks! Quote: |

Yes, I know about the file update since since 2.42... I asked if you have a list of files that have changed since Classifieds 2.5 beta 1? or how about since 2.5?
I would like to update to Classifieds 2.5 beta 4 without reinstalling all the files!
I can't understand why anyone would complain about support on this web-site.
Thanks for all your help. |

There is no more beta has not been one for quite awhile. Classifieds 2.5 is the final release and you would need to replace the files meantioned in the announcement and run the upgrade.

Joe I beleive you need to check the very first post link I made to you
There is no BETA!! Your posting to an old thread. The beta has been closed for almost 2 months.
You need to follow the instructions in the upgrade documentation of the downloaded code. The link I gave you tells you what changed.

Chuck, So you're telling me that it went from " Classifieds v2.5" to 2.5 beta 1 to 2.5 beta 2 to 2.5 beta 3 to 2.5 beta 4 and then back to Classifieds v2.5.
Silly me, I should've known the normal progression in beta numbering would take it back to its original version number.
Check, you're the man, you created a whole new way of looking at beta numbering. |

Programs that are in a very early stage of development are often called "alpha" software, after the first letter in the Greek alphabet. After they mature but are not yet ready for release, they may be called "beta" software, after the second letter in the Greek alphabet. Alpha- and beta-version software is often given numerical versions less than 1 (such as 0.9), to suggest their approach toward a public "1.0" release. However, if the pre-release version is for an existing software package (e.g. version 2.5), then an "a" or "alpha" may be appended to the version number. So the alpha version of the 2.5 release might be identified as 2.5a or 2.5.a.
Software packages which are soon to be released as a particular version may carry that version tag followed by "rc-#", indicating the number of the release candidate. When the version is actually released, the "rc" tag disappears.
Usaly but not always. There are many factors: bugs, add-ons, choice of the DEV team(s).
I have seen many times that software is updated:
2 stages of Alpha
4 stages of Beta
2 stages of RC
Gold

Joe you must not be familiar with the standard software version release system used by every company I know as you have this backwards as Zachariah has pointed out above.
Classifieds 2.42 was the gold version when you where using the beta product.
There were a total of 4 beta releases on 2.5 before it went gold.
The final was released February 6th and designated the new gold version 2.5. As in my very first response the release announcement has the exact listing of changed files.
