Question No How to or General Help forums Beyond Install?

Hi, Omegatron... I'm back again with a couple of more questions.

I've been perusing the support forums for classifieds but all I can see is install help, bug reports and New Feature suggestions. Is that really all the classfieds forums that exist now? Is there not a HOW TO forum for the classifieds like there is for PhotoPost?

That suggests to me that if one is looking for help beyond basic installation of the classifieds he is on his own. Is that the situation?

For example, I've seen at least one site that has your classifieds integrated and running together with vBPortal 3.0 but can't find a single post on how to do that here. Also, I see users asking basic questions and suggesting enhancements to the classifieds but nothing here about how to accomplish basic things like classified template editing. Are there posts here somewhere that discuss or offer tips on classifieds template editing and I've just overlooked them?

As it stands now, I have the classfieds up and running very nicely with the forums. Now, I'd like to make it work with vBPortal as well. The ReefTalk.com site looks very nice. Whoever did that one, accomplished almost exactly what I have in mind. I really LIKE the way that site includes the classifieds and reviews integrated in vbPortal's side blocks. That's nice and I'd like to be able to do the same sort of thing.

I'd also love to be able to include either the classifieds sidebar or blocks from that sidebar to display such items as "most viewed" and classified stats in either the right or left sidebar column with the portal side bar in the other sidebar column. It would also be very nice to be able to include a "newest classifieds" sidebar block. Are these things possible to do at the present time without custom programming?

From what I've learned about vBportal so far (I'm still a relatively new user there too), adding those classified items to the sidebar must have required at least some level of vbPortal block and module definition (and perhaps even some custom mySQL query coding too). Is that stuff available to me if I turn on vbPortal integration or can someone here tell me how to do that?

Now that I've got it installed and running, I'm quite pleased with the classifieds and I like its clean and simple sidebar too. My next step, is to make it work in sychronization and harmony with vbPortal 3.05. Can you offer me some guidance, please?

Thanks.

The How to I forum is for every product and so is general discussion

Each Product support forum has these

Install
Bug
Suggestions

Since the hack site does not exist you can email me and I will share the classifieds ad block I have for vbportal

Question

One of my questions was rather specific. I'm still looking for posts that explain what must be done to change or enhance the Classifieds ad templates or create new ones. I have MANY ad sections that don't work very well with the four templates provided.

For example, an announcements section based on the "personals" template always includes that silly "male seeking female" dropdown option. Under the circumstances, that seems pretty silly to me and I'd like to be able to create a new template for that.

With this question in mind, I have to believe that I'm NOT the first who wanted some additional templates for the Classifieds. Yet, I don't see any area here where users can post their new/updated templates to share with others. Where is one supposed to do that?

Thanks!
