Login looping problem. Cookies?

Some of my users are having a login problem. Basically they enter their username and password, are shown it was entered in correctly, but get pushed back to the generic not-logged-in classifieds start page.

I've seen this a few times myself, but restarting my browser and returning to the site usally fixes it. However, for some users, they can't login no matter what they do.

I've read in other threads that cookies may be an issue?

I've integrated PP Classifieds with phpbb2. My classifieds run on http://classifieds.castanet.net and forums on http://forums.castanet.net

Here are my PPClassifieds cookie settings...

PhotoPost Classifieds Cookie Path: /
Forum Cookie Prefix: phpbb2mysq

Here are my PHPBB2 cookie settings...

Cookie domain: [blank]
Cookie name: phpbb2mysql
Cookie path: /

Do I need to change the PPClassifieds cookie path? Change to "forums.castanet.net"?

I would make the domain in both this

.castanet.net

Make sure your prefix is phpbb2mysql as I hope thats a typo above

Thanks! That little change now allows forum/classifieds users to not have to login again if they switch between classifieds and the forum or vice versa. (Before they had to login again.)

I'll have my problem users try it again with the new setting.

I've had my problem users try it again with the cookies improvement but without uccess.

Here are the symptoms again.

This happens to maybe a few dozen of my 2000 users. They can login to the forums no problem. The classifieds login says they are successful but then classifieds boots them back to the main screen not logged in.

The cookies issue above helped existing users in that once logged in to either classifieds or forums, they don't need to login again if they switch to the other application.

I've had the problem users reboot and erase their cookies to no avail.

Okay in the forum are they sessioned in or cookied? VB passes a session in the url so if users dont allow cookies they can still be used in. Our application absolutely works with cookies so if they are not allowing cookies they will not be logged in.

This is the only thing I can think of if everyone else is fine.
