Paypal IPN question
 

does the paypal features send along its own IPN url or rely on the one specified in your paypal account ?

I'm hoping it has its own IPN processing script and passes that along as a variable as I have several services wanting to use Paypal but can only specify one IPN processing script.

IPN via Paypal does rely on the URL supplied within your paypal account/profile, i believe Paypal will allow you to enter one url to be used in conjunction with a script on your server.

Using another script which would want to utilize the IPN feature of your Paypal account would not work, it's either one script or the other i'm affraid.

well might i ask that in your next version you include a paypal IPN script as part of the Classifieds application and pass that url as a variable with the transaction. I know it can be done and it would allow this app to be used with other paypal enabled apps, such as vbulletin itself.

I'd love to run this, but i already use my IPN for vbulletin and for my own home grown add software.. both with passing a separate IPN url ..

Can i ask... how many URLs does paypal allow you to enter in your profile?

Paypal only allows you to enter one IPN script in your profile.

the problem is if you want to use that paypal account to handle say paypal with vbulletin and paypal with photopost you cant.

What would be nice is if you guys, and the vbulletin team coded your IPN/Paypal stuff a little differently. On page 106 of the paypal IPN manual it talks about a field you can send along with your paypal transaction/button called "notify_url". This specifies the url that will process the payment.

what would be nice is if photopost had its own IPN processing url that could be sent along with the transaction to process it. Would mean i could use multiple software with one paypal account.

I would be interested in this variable URl script too. makes sense, since Paypal does not allow to ahve sevarla accounts with the same Credit Card or Bank account.

Is there any news regrading this?

There are no changes avaiable at this time, if that is what you are asking; but we will considering alternative methods in our next update. That's not saying this specifically will be there, just that we'll look into it.
