Error during install

I downloaded the latest version today, uploaded it to my webserver, chmod'ed the files and directories, and began installing.

I get to install.php?step=2&usegd=0 and I receive a blank page. No links to continue, no error messages, nothing.

The contents of my browser window at this point is:

Quote:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></HEAD>
<BODY></BODY></HTML>
20 tables have been created in my database.

I tried to manually move to the next step by changing step=2 to step=3 in the URL but I get:
Quote:

We're sorry, but we encountered an error during the installation process...

You can only change the Administrator password for Internal registration systems.

If you have corrected the error, you may hit GO BACK and try again.
How do I proceed?

I had the same problem I manually edited the config-inc.php and config-int.php files but still cannot access the vB3 database or login to finish installation.

sifuhall January 30th, 2005 06:33 PM

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'll try running some tests, but since it created the tables, I'm not sure offhand why you would get a blank page. Did you also upload the zipData.sql file to insert zip code information? Does the zipData table have any data in it?

You have to complete step 2-5 in order for Classifieds to work, so lets see what the issue is.

Thanks for the help. I'm not sure what to do next.

zipData is empty. Should I import the zipData.sql file manually?

sifuhall January 31st, 2005 03:05 PM

I am certainly willing to provide login info and any other assistance that is needed to help resolve this.

angler7 January 31st, 2005 11:05 PM

I've tried the clean install 4 times now, each time with the same result. I get a blank screen during step 2: .../install.php?step=2&usegd=1
Each time prior to executing the install I have dropped the tables and uploaded the files fresh. I start the install and am able to enter my user and classifieds database info (dbase name, dbase username, and password). When I check the database I find that there are 19 tables that have been created with the 'pp_' prefix plus the zipData table which has nothing in it. There also is no 'usergroups' table as in Reviewpost.

When I check the site I get this error message: Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/studiocafe/public_html/classifieds/forums/sellerspost.php on line 234

Why is the install routine so buggy? This is very frustrating. What do I do now? I have purchased Photopost, Classifieds and Reviewpost for three sites to date and I've never had this much trouble. I have to get this online by mid-week. Help!

Okay then I tried to run the upgrade.php script to load the zipcode database and got this error:
Preparing to insert Zip Code data...

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 12 bytes) in /home/studiocafe/public_html/classifieds/upgrade.php on line 485

What to do now?

angler7 January 31st, 2005 11:35 PM

I went into the config-inc.php and config-int.php files and manually updated them. Classifieds is connecting to the database now and it seems to be working EXCEPT I get this error message at the top of the screen:
Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in homestudiocafepublic_htmlclassifiedsforumsvb3.php on line 312

Why would there not be any '/' between the path components?

angler7 January 31st, 2005 11:40 PM

Omegatron has suggested the following: Make sure also the usergroups table and at least the admin insert with groupid of 6 exists with cpaccess set to 1

There is no "usergroups" table created in my Classifieds install. I have run the install 4 times without success. Can I manually create a 'usergroups' table if I need to in order to make this work?

I haven't been able to solve this either. Thanks for the info angler7, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with this issue.

I must express my dissatisfaction with the support on this item.

This is my fourth licensed product I have purchased from photopost and previously I have had very good experiences.

However now four days have passed and I had hoped to have this running last Saturday.

sifuhall February 2nd, 2005 09:03 PM

In my frustration to get this resolved I have limted the error down to line 701 in install.php

Quote:

$query = @file("zipData.sql");
Nothing happens after this line, and the variable $query contains no values.

Even if I put a print statement after this line, nothing happens.

I have verified the file zipData.sql is present and even chmod'ed it to 777 but nothing happens.

I've spent many, many hours trying to resolve this and my dissatisfaction is really growing. I no longer think I will be renewing my reviews license which has expired, nor my two photopost licenses.

The products are great when they work, but the support has really taken a bad turn here.

sifuhall February 2nd, 2005 09:50 PM

<<sigh>> I'm really no closer today than I was on Saturday.

I'm giving up and will cough up the $59 for installation.

Michael said he would do more testing.

Did you chmod both config files? I know if you dont chmod the config-int.php file you can get a white page on some servers.

Some more information exact steps of what your doing would help as many Classifieds install works fine for me and I have done quite a few since 2.1 came out. Hard part about support is I am not there to know what the user is doing. Yes I helped angler by stating fixes for errors he was having to do things manually as it would have taken way longer trying to diagnose what he was doing different upon an install than I am.

I think personally the issue here is you did not chmod the second config file as that makes sense.

sifuhall February 3rd, 2005 10:48 AM

Thanks for the reply. Here is the permissions of my config files:

Quote:

# ll conf*
-rwxrwxrwx 1 admin9 admin9 3272 Feb 2 21:01 config-inc.php
-rwxrwxrwx 1 admin9 admin9 2407 Feb 2 21:01 config-int.php
I have already purchased the installation. I'm sure there will be no difficulty for you, however I am very curious as to what the problem was.

Chuck S February 3rd, 2005 11:00 AM

Yes if you purchased the install and it installs for me fine as it has been for every other install then Michael and me are still left scratching our heads what is the user doing different than us.

To find an issue we need to replicate it. I would have to ask myself if it installs fine is there is there some more install documentation we can provide to make sure a user does not encounter an issue etc. Is there something more we can do to the install script to make sure a user does not encounter a problem should be not enter something right.

sifuhall February 3rd, 2005 05:43 PM

I understand and think it is great that you want to help your customers.

I would have loved to have been able to assist you towards this goal in any way I could on Saturday, Sunday, or even Monday. Tuesday my frustration level was very high after not being able to make any headway at all, and yesterday after no progress I finally gave up and order the installation.

I'm very eager to finally have this installed and operational.

Thanks for the replies.

Chuck S February 4th, 2005 11:43 AM

sifuhall February 4th, 2005 11:55 AM
