TIP: Upgrade from vb2->vb3

For some reason, the tips for updating installations of photopost Classifieds for use with vb3 are not listed in the Classifieds section yet. But, by browsing around in other sections of the forum (for ReviewPost and Photopost) I found them

vB3 Integration FAQ

In particular the problem I had was after upgrading my forum to 3.0.3 I could no longer log into my Classifieds forum, and so I could not make any changes to the database.

I found this post by Omegatron particularly helpful:

It explains how you can use phpMyAdmin or some other tool to modify your classifieds SETTINGS table so item #41, the database type can be changed from "vb2" to "vb3"

Now, I can't fathom why that particular parameter is not included right in config-inc.php next to the database settings, where you can reach it with a text editor, but it isn't! You might just need to get into config-inc anyway to adjust your cookie settings.

So, I hope the five minutes it took to make this post this saves someone the hour and a half I spent researching this.

Regards,

Matt

Now that I can log in I am trying to get my headers to work. The post linked above talks about broken headers and has some info for a "new section for vb3" which I can't find yet.

I cannot get my vB3 headers to work.

PhotoPost includes a file called header-inc.php which is used to integrate your vB headers. There is a new section for users of vB3.

If you upgraded from vB2, you will need to comment out the vB2 section and the uncomment the vB3 section.

If you are doing a new install, then you would uncomment and modify the vB3 section.

There are a couple lines you will need to edit, the two path variables:

$vbpath
$pppath

Both of these variables are full server paths to your vB3 forums directory and PhotoPost directory.

There is also a stylesheet variable just below that which needs to be editted.

It seems there should be separate sections for vb2 and vb3, but I have only the vbPortal / Vb generic sections in my header-inc.php for classifieds 1.8c and in the latest download of Photopost 4.8.2 I did tonight, so I don't know what he's talking about:
