| PhotoPost Classifieds 1.8.2 update
===========================
PHOTOPOST CLASSIFIEDS 1.8.2
===========================
Minor updates to fix a few files:
pp-inc.php (change to catmoveopt to allow different types of subcat ads, version number update)
index.php (added permissions to comments view)
showmembers.php (add permissions to comments view)
forums/threads.php (fixed missing init_user_groups() function)
forums/ib.php (slight changes to styles integration and a fix for import_user_groups to identify admins)
forums/ib2.php (slight changes to styles integration, a fix for import_user_groups to identify admins and an authication addition)
languages/english/emails.php (change to ad link)
There are no database changes for this upgrade, so there is no upgrade script. You only need to upload files which have changed since the 1.8.1 update.

It's been a while and we still have none of the essential stuff fixed or added. The product is still unusable for me. I actually think you should change your sales page to show Classifieds as a USA (and other $ countries) rather than a proper international product.

Agreed on the essential stuff that has been reported and suggested... this product is just not getting enough development attention IMO.
Can we see a bit more development action?

Guys
This product is only 4 months old.
A bit more development? Classifieds has changed dramitically in 4 months from version 1.0 to 1.8.2 just look at the change logs. Not every suggestion given is implemented or if it is it may not be implemented the first time round. VB3 was in beta how long? Photopost has probally the quickest turnaround on released and development. Just cause your suggestions were not taken into account first time around does not mean anything.

Agreed - Classifieds does already look quite good - however it's now a commercial product for an International market. Even though the original development was for personal use, those days are over. Hard coded currency is a bug because it's an international product. This new 'update' does not deserve a x.x.2 version number - should have been a x.x.x.0b instead !!!
Photopost is now a market leader and worth every penny. Many people in the vBulletin community (and probably other forum software communities) are asking for Classifieds and/or Auction software - yet not everyone knows about Photopost Classifieds even though they know about Photopost. You have the chance to make PPC as great as PP - at the moment PPC trails far behind PP.

Not enough development attention? You've got to be kidding me.

1) The version number update was issued to keep all three products in sync with some common changes.
2) PhotoPost has matured over three plus years of development. Classifieds has come a long way in a few months - to suggest it hasn't come far enough is almost an insult to the time that has been spent getting it where it is.
3) Classifieds as it is makes for a great addition to any site - the level of integration is a first for this kind of script. Many of the just-added features of PhotoPost (including signatures, avatars and style integration) have been added to this very new product.
Like PhotoPost, Classifieds will continue to grow and improve - the changes in just the past few months have themselves been significant and I see no reason to think it wont continue.

My point is that all the 'improvements' have had to do with bringing the product into line with "photopost" features.
That's well and fine, but where are the significant 'classified' features/improvements?
I haven't upgraded yet, probably because I can't use this product in it's current state on my site and have been patiently watching for the last 4 months.
I just did a quick check of the forums here and saw discussions on the hard-coded currency issue. Is this still an issue? There is no mention of it in the changelogs that I can see.
What other significant developments have been added to the product that are not 'photopost hand-me-down' features (for lack of a better term)?
All I'm saying is that I would like to see some innovative CLASSIFIED features introduced to the program... no 'insults' intended to what has been done so far.

As I said, getting Classifieds up to 1.8 was a tremendous amount of work and offered alot of new features. Yes, a switch would be easier than editting a couple files which use the "$" - and I'll get to it; but if all you are waiting on is something that can be accomplished in 15 minutes, then it's a bit of a waste of time.
As for other features, what is preventing you from using it and I'll tell you what to expect.

| It was YOU who said months ago that it was an oversight on your part and that you would fix it in the next release... since then, how many upgrades have there been for this product? Your assertion of only 15 minutes is now quite a bit larger, isn't it? For someone to keep on top of the releases, they need to remember to "hack" this change in, each and every time. Now THAT'S a bit of a waste of time.
I provided a "hack" over on your 'other' site for including the ad subject in email notifications... is that now a standard feature?
Seller/Buyer feedback/ratings system is a key classifieds feature... is this being worked on?

If you are asking if I added your mod to Classifieds, the answer is no, I wasn't aware of any posting you made.
Yes, I did say it was an oversight and it's something I should add in.
Seller/Buyer feedback/rating system is planned for next release - X.X.2 was an update to fix some outstanding issues and was not a "new feature" release.

I own all of PP products and have followed the development of the software over a few years now. I think that RP,RC and PP have come along quite a long way.
To keep all three versions upt to the same level must be quite a daunting task.
I do remember MP saying that he would get around to fixing the currency problem.... I just put that down to work load. I look forward to the latest updates and knowing they will be done correctly instead of a rush job.
Keep up the good work folks---- |

Here is talk in the suggestions area about adding ad titles to subject email notifications: http://www.photopost.com/members/for...d.php?t=107977
The requirement for this functionality in a classifieds product is pretty obvious when you have sellers with multiple listings.
Another very important requirement is only allowing registered users be able to contact sellers... I know there was talk about it in the suggestions area but have no idea if this has been implemented into the product.
I appreciate the 'across the board' product updates, but my gripe here is that I paid good money for a specific product that so far, can pretty much be done with a photopost installation. And before you ask, I paid at the time to support the early development and to take advantage of the special price discount at the time.
I'm just asking for little more attention be put towards improving the feature set as it applies to a complete stand-alone classifieds product.

Rest assured, development continues. Sometimes an update is necessary that doesn't include the features under development.
Some feedback would be helpful: http://www.photopost.com/members/for...=1#post1078743
