FAQ--How to Create Additional Template Set's in Classifieds

Hi chuck.
I just modified the wanted template....basically created a new wanted add and used the for sale template so users can add pics of specific items they want.

Catch is the images dont show up in the latest adds bar at the top of the index. Is there a piece of code I can change to fix this?

Other than that this is a very simple process so thanks for the help.

What classifieds is this beta or stable. If this is beta let me know and I can move this post. Also please post a url to the example of what the issue is.

Hi,

I am trying to add an extra for Sale Template, i have done it ok in the Templates but when i go to the Languages/english i do not see the for sale template's

i tried it without adding copies of the original for sale ones, but it does not work.

please can you advise.

In the english language directory you will see showcat1.php etc etc

You need to add copies in the format showcat4.php or whatever numeric ad type you added.

i have just edited

showcat1 to showcat4
editcat1 to editcat4
uploadcat1 to uploadcat4

now the forum shows but when i place an add it places a wanted add, but allows me to add pictures.

Basically what i want to do is, have a traders forum for 1 trader, with a For Sale Sub Catacory and a Wanted Sub Catagory.

I want to have a seperate template for the trade and Normal users, so that normal users cannot select The traders ad type. since the trade area is for 1 specific trader.

if i get another trader i would want them to have a seperate template too.

how do I get the new category to link to a forum room.
IE step 2 when you place an add asks you to select a category?
Mine give me nothing in the drop down menu, and I can't figure out where to edit

You need to in Admin => Edit categories create a category and select that template type. If your not using any categories in a specific type turn them off in ad types section.

You need to set categories up to use that template type as stated if you expect there to be categories underneath the drop down on upload process

Well this would all depend on how you setup the new templates and language files right. I would suggest you go back and check your work and make sure they are as you need them to be.

Hi,
I have got the wanted templates working But not for Sale.
However when i go to edit the files in the languages folder
the following are not their, and they are not in the zip file either.

languages/english/editproduct.php
languages/english/showcat.php
languages/english/showproduct.php
languages/english/uploadproduct.php

their is the same files with 1-3 in the folder. which are the other cats just not the main for sale ones.

can you advise?

Those would not exist because For Sale uses the main english.php language file and main templates. The additional types use the 1 2 3 4 etc extention on language files replacements and alternate templates.

You would create any additional files just like any other type you want based on the instructions in the first post. The language file can be empty thats fine. You notice those special files only have a couple replacement strings thats all they are is replacement strings.

I'm running into a minor problem.
My alternate for sale template is showing
What is it you are looking for?:
Instead of
Title for the item you are selling:
Everything else looks fine.

My new template id is 10.

Should I be looking in the language/English directory?
I copied the files in post 33 and appended '10' to them.

I edited uploadproduct10.php to make it work.
$Globals['pp_lang']['uploadproduct'] = "Place Ad";
$Globals['pp_lang']['producttitle'] = "Title for the item you are selling";
$Globals['pp_lang']['productdesc'] = "Item description:";
$Globals['pp_lang']['uploadsubmit'] = "Submit Ad";

Is that just a work-around or should that have not been necessary?

Have you based those templates off of the help wanted english file? That is what it appears to me.

I thought I was based off of the for sale templates.
The templates appear OK.
It's the language that is incorrect.

I originally copied it from uploadproduct1.php which is for want to buy. I did not understand any other way to do it.
Post 1 says to copy the 4 templates, in my case in the vb3enhanced directory and to copy the 4 php files in language/english.

correct and change the strings you wish
